Last Meeting ( Sep 27, 2008 ) Texas Christian 10, Oklahoma 35
Oklahoma has won seven Big 12 titles since 2000 but needs a win and some help to secure another. The No. 11 Sooners need a victory at TCU on Saturday and then have archrival Texas beat Kansas State. If that doesn’t happen, Oklahoma will most likely fall completely out of the BCS bowl picture. Oklahoma has won four straight, including a wild overtime victory over Oklahoma State last week. TCU is looking to finish above .500 in its first Big 12 campaign. The Horned Frogs won at Texas 20-13 on Thanksgiving Day with a sensational defensive effort. TCU limited the Longhorns to 86 yards on the ground on 33 carries. The Horned Frogs also picked off three passes. TCU has not beaten a conference foe at home this season.

ABOUT OKLAHOMA (9-2, 7-1 Big 12): Landry Jones passed Graham Harrell to become the conference’s all-time passing leader in the Sooners’ 51-48 victory over the Cowboys. Jones threw for 500 yards and three touchdowns on a school-record 71 pass attempts. Backup quarterback Blake Bell continues to provide a fine change of pace. He has rushed for 11 touchdowns on the season and scored a critical touchdown down the stretch against Oklahoma State last week. Coach Bob Stoops denied rumors that he was interested in the vacant Tennessee job. Stoops is in his 14th season at Oklahoma and his name surfaces frequently when marquee jobs open. The Sooners have discussed playing in the Sugar Bowl instead of the Fiesta Bowl if they win the conference crown.
ABOUT TCU (7-4, 4-4): Quarterback Trevone Boykin threw only nine passes in last week’s win over Texas. Boykin was 7-for-9 for 82 yards as the Horned Frogs relied on their defense holding the Longhorns to season lows in points and yards. Boykin also ran for a team-high 77 yards and is a capable passer. He had a combined 317 yards against Baylor. TCU coach Gary Patterson is rumored to be in the mix for the vacant Auburn position. Patterson, who led the Horned Frogs to a 17-10 victory over Oklahoma in Norman in 2005 is 116-34 in 13 seasons. The Sooners won the last meeting 35-10 in 2008.
EXTRA POINTS
1. Oklahoma DE David King is questionable with an ankle injury.
2. TCU is 2-3 at home this season
3. If Oklahoma doesn’t win the Big 12, its BCS chances could rest in the hands of Kent State. The Golden Flashes are 17th in the BCS standings, one spot away from securing an automatic BCS bid.
