Washington Capitals vs Philadelphia Flyers Match Player Stats On Feb 26, 2022

Cam Atkinson scored one goal and set up the other as the host Philadelphia Flyers edged the Washington Capitals 2-1 on Saturday to snap a six-game losing streak.

Flyers goaltender Carter Hart, who sat out the previous two games with an eye infection, made 27 saves. Claude Giroux also scored for Philadelphia.

T.J. Oshie, playing his second game after returning from a long-term upper-body injury, scored Washington's only goal. Ilya Samsonov made 20 saves.

The Flyers went ahead 11 seconds after the opening faceoff when Giroux found himself wide open in front and beat Samsonov for his 17th of the season. Atkinson made it 1-0 at 18:38 with his team-high 18th goal.

The game was physical through the first period, with Washington's Tom Wilson engaging in separate scuffles with Rasmus Ristolainen and Zack MacEwen.

Samsonov kept the Capitals within two when he robbed Travis Konecny at 5:52 of the second period. As Samsonov went sprawling to the ice, he managed to redirect the puck out of harm's way with his glove.

Washington got a power play when Isaac Ratcliffe was called for interference at 6:39. Oshie made it 2-1 when he beat Hart 14 seconds later with a one-timer from the slot for his sixth of the season.

The Flyers got a two-man advantage for 49 seconds when Martin Fehervary was penalized for interference at 12:31 with teammate Nic Dowd already off for roughing. But the Capitals' defense tightened and they killed off both penalties.

The Capitals came out aggressive in the third and produced a flurry of scoring chances in the first five minutes but could not beat Hart. They pulled Samsonov for an extra skater with 2:04 remaining and had chances, including two shots by Alex Ovechkin in the final 30 seconds, but again could not beat Hart.
