Dallas @ Calgary preview
Scotiabank Saddledome
Last Meeting ( Oct 10, 2019 ) Calgary 3, Dallas 2
After winning only once in their first nine games (1-7-1) this season, the Dallas Stars have clawed their way back to the NHL version of .500 on the heels of a 7-1-1 stretch. Riding a five-game point streak, the Stars will look to avenge a home loss to Calgary last month when they continue a four-game road trip with a visit to the Flames on Wednesday night.
The Stars had their four-game winning streak snapped in a 3-2 overtime loss at Winnipeg on Sunday but still have earned points in their last five contests. "You know we haven't been successful just because we've been lucky as of late," Dallas captain Jamie Benn said. "We believe in what we're doing and we've just got to stick with that." Calgary erased a two-goal deficit before dropping a 3-2 overtime decision to St. Louis on Saturday to fall to 2-0-1 entering the finale of a four-game homestand. The Flames ended a six-game losing streak to the Stars on Oct. 10, scoring twice in the third period before Johnny Gaudreau closed out the 3-2 win in a shootout.

ABOUT THE STARS (8-8-2): Dallas coach Jim Montgomery told reporters he apologized to Benn and Tyler Seguin for critical remarks about the duo following the loss in Winnipeg, but both players said it wasn't necessary. "He's right, there needs to be more expectations out of myself. We didn't need an apology," said Benn, who has only six points on the season and one over his last seven games. "Coaches are allowed to say that stuff. I'm not losing sleep over it," Seguin added. "Obviously, results are needed in this game, and results aren't there now."
ABOUT THE FLAMES (10-7-3): Matthew Tkachuk scored six times and added three assists over the past six games to take over the team lead with 19 points and tie Elias Lindholm for the club high with 10 goals. The line of Tkachuk, Mikael Backlund and new addition Andrew Mangiapane has thrived on the homestand. "At the start of the year, I played with him for the first time and it was a bit of a feeling out (process), the first couple games," Tkachuk said of Mangiapane. "They put us back together a couple games ago, and we've been feeling really good."
