Anaheim @ Vancouver preview
Rogers Arena
Last Meeting ( Nov 1, 2019 ) Vancouver 1, Anaheim 2
The Vancouver Canucks look to ride the momentum of a record-setting performance by their All-Star goaltender into Sunday's contest against the visiting Anaheim Ducks. Jacob Markstrom had a career-high 49 saves in Wednesday's 3-0 victory over Chicago, giving Vancouver its 11th win in the last 12 games at Rogers Arena.
"Records don't come easy in this organization or in this league. I'll take it," said Markstrom, whose saves in a shutout are the most in franchise history as well as the most in the NHL by a Sweden-born goaltender. The 30-year-old carries a 15-5-0 mark in his last 20 decisions into Sunday's game versus Anaheim, against which he turned aside 27 shots in the Canucks' 2-1 overtime loss on Nov. 1. Captain Ryan Getzlaf scored 2:30 into the extra session of that contest for the Ducks, who saw their season-high five-game point streak (3-0-2) come to a screeching halt on Thursday after yielding four first-period goals in a 6-0 shellacking by Calgary. "We learn from these," Anaheim coach Dallas Eakins said. "As much as you want to keep point streaks going, I think a kick in the rear end is good for you every once in a while."

ABOUT THE DUCKS (23-27-7): Anaheim was shut out for the third time this season on Thursday, but it wasn't for a lack of trying on the part of Troy Terry. The 22-year-old saw his modest two-game point streak end despite registering a season-high nine shots on goal -- more than twice as many as any teammate. "Every loss, we've tried to look at what we could gain. At the end of the day, we had breakdowns," Terry said. "This really goes for myself, but we need to score on our chances. They (the Flames) scored on theirs. That's what it comes down to. They made more plays. We need to have more jam than that."
ABOUT THE CANUCKS (32-21-5): Brandon Sutter, who scored Vancouver's lone goal in the previous encounter against Anaheim, recorded his second three-point performance of the season after he set up two tallies before scoring into an empty net against the Blackhawks. Captain Bo Horvat scored in the first period to mark his first goal since Jan. 27, although the team's offensive contributions are the secondary focus behind playing better defensively. "We've got to tighten up. We can't give Marky that much work on a daily basis," the 24-year-old Horvat said. "He’s a brick wall back there and it's nice to have, but we have to clean it up a bit."
