Buffalo @ Ottawa preview
Canadian Tire Centre
Last Meeting ( Jan 28, 2020 ) Ottawa 5, Buffalo 2
The Buffalo Sabres have seen all four of their previous three-game winning streaks this season come to a halt with a loss on the road. The Sabres bid to buck that trend on Tuesday when they visit the Ottawa Senators, who have defeated their Atlantic Division rivals in the last three meetings at Canadian Tire Centre.
"We're starting to get the confidence going again in the room, and I think that's everything," said Buffalo captain Jack Eichel, who recorded his 23rd point in 20 games by scoring his 33rd goal of the season in Sunday's 5-2 victory over Toronto. The 23-year-old erupted for a career-high four goals in the Sabres' 4-2 win over the visiting Senators on Nov. 16 before scoring again in a 5-2 setback to Ottawa on Jan. 28. The Senators dropped the next six games before winning two of their last three, including Sunday's 4-3 overtime decision versus Dallas. "For us to get two points, that's huge for us. Hopefully we can build off this," said Brady Tkachuk, who has three goals with four assists in his last six games overall and one and three, respectively, in three meetings with Buffalo this season.

ABOUT THE SABRES (27-24-8): Although Rasmus Dahlin recorded his 14th point (two goals, 12 assists) in 15 games after setting up Johan Larsson's first-period goal on Sunday, it was the blue-liner's defensive play that caught the eye of coach Ralph Krueger. "Defensively, he's really become comfortable up against anybody, and he's finding his way in our principles, which we're really excited about," Krueger said on Monday. Carter Hutton has turned aside 112 of 121 shots during his four-start winning streak.
ABOUT THE SENATORS (20-28-11): Ottawa coach D.J. Smith is keeping the faith with struggling forward Anthony Duclair, who is mired in a 21-game goal drought after scoring 21 times in his previous 37 contests. "That's great, you're getting a lot of chances, he's playing well, skating well, he looks more confident," Smith said of the 24-year-old. "I thought (Sunday) was probably his best game in 10. He was dangerous. He looked like he did when he was scoring everything." Jean-Gabriel Pageau, who has overtaken the team lead in goals with 22, has tallied three times this season against Buffalo -- including twice in a 3-1 win on Dec. 23.
OVERTIME
1. Ottawa will honor former D Chris Phillips, the franchise's all-time leader in games played, by raising a No. 4 banner to the rafters at Canadian Tire Centre prior to Tuesday's game.
2. Buffalo suspended D Zach Bogosian on Monday for failing to report to Rochester of the American Hockey League after he cleared waivers this weekend.
3. Senators D Thomas Chabot has set up a goal in three straight games to boost his team-leading total in assists to 28.
PREDICTION: Senators 3, Sabres 2
