The Philadelphia Flyers are on the second half of a back-to-back and are being heavily discounted because of it, but this offense can score, and Jamie Drysdale is playing big minutes and getting PP1 time. He has points in three straight games, including two power-play points, and gets a Washington team that could be without its top goalie in Logan Thompson, who wasn't sharp before the injury. The Flyers actually rank better than Washington in expected goals against/60 at all strengths this season, despite losing nine straight games out of the gate. Washington is an overvalued team in the market, in my opinion, and I'd play this to 47%.

It's pretty simple here: the Philadelphia Flyers are downright awful, owning a league-worst -17 goal differential and second-worst expected goals against mark. This is all while averaging just 1.93 goals per game. This Washington Capitals team has been serviceable for bettors this year, and are coming into tonight winners of three of their last four.

Colorado won all six home games following two days off last season, and is 2/2 to start this year.
Jake Allen has not played all that well to date, allowing 3.2 goals more than expected through seven appearances. Colorado should get to him.

I’m on Artturi Lehkonen for a point and would play to 59%. Colorado’s top line of Lehkonen, Nathan MacKinnon, and Martin Necas has been unstoppable at 5-on-5, controlling better than 72% of the xG share while scoring 8.2 goals per 60 minutes. Jake Allen has not been overly sharp this year, posting a -3.2 Goals Saved Above Expected through seven starts.

Why fix what isn't broken? I've highlighted Auston Matthews to score in four straight games, and he's delivered in three of them. The production speaks for itself, so there's plenty of reason to stick with the hot hand. The Jack Roslovic-Auston Matthews-Kirill Marchenko line boasts an impressive 72 xGoals%, ranking among the top five lines in hockey with at least 30 minutes played together. Even if Cowan or William Nylander step in for Marchenko, Matthews should continue to benefit from quality scoring chances.
Easton Cowan o0.5 Points (+105)
At 48%, there's plenty to like about Cowan's chances of finding the scoresheet tonight. The 21-year-old enters the matchup riding a four-game point streak and is up against Philipp Grubauer, who ranks 18th in the NHL in goals saved above expected. Ugly. More importantly, Cowan could see an expanded role on Toronto's top power-play unit with Marchenko sidelined. For a unit clicking at a 28% clip on the man advantage, we'll take it.

An NHL moneyline bet is simple: all you need to do is pick a winner. Whether that's in regulation or overtime, they don't ask how, but how many, right?

As with all moneyline odds, the team with the minus sign (-) is the favorite, while the side with the plus sign (+) is the underdog.
Betting $100 on Edmonton at -130 would net you $176 in winnings if they win the game, $76 of profit plus your initial $100 wager. Conversely, if you bet on Florida and they win, you get $210: $110 in profit plus your initial $100 bet.
The puck line is the NHL's version of the spread, where each team is given a certain number of goals to either win or lose by. Unlike the NFL or the NBA, the NHL spread doesn't typically change from 1.5 for each side. The spread is designed to make betting on the favorite more enticing.

The favorite, Edmonton at -1.5, would need to win by at least two goals for the bet to cash. If Edmonton wins by two or more goals, in other words, "covers the bet," you'd get $191 in winnings instead of $176 by taking them on the moneyline.
There are two ways for the underdog, Florida at +1.5, to "cover" a +1.5 puck line bet. They can lose by a single goal or win outright to cash. The odds are shorter, but you have options on this bet.
With a total bet, you're wagering on the total number of goals scored by both teams. You aren't backing any single side to win.
