Montreal @ Vegas preview
T-Mobile Arena
Last Meeting ( Nov 10, 2018 ) Vegas 4, Montreal 5
If there were any questions that the Vegas Golden Knights' prowess at raucous T-Mobile Arena in their 2017-18 inaugural season was somewhat of a fluke, the team has dispelled any doubts over the past seven weeks. The Golden Knights have won six straight and nine of 10 at home entering Saturday's matchup versus the visiting Montreal Canadiens.
After going 2-1-1 while playing four straight one-goal games during a road trip against Metropolitan Division foes, Vegas returned home and showed off some of its magic at T-Mobile. The Golden Knights spotted the New York Islanders a two-goal lead in the first period before roaring back with four unanswered tallies to improve to 11-3-1 at home. Montreal opened a six-game road trip by splitting a pair of 2-1 decisions, rebounding from a loss at Colorado on Wednesday with a victory at Arizona 24 hours later as netminder Carey Price posted his 300th career victory. “That was a big milestone for him," Canadiens forward Max Domi said. "Not many guys can say they’ve accomplished that. He’s the best goalie in the world, by far."

ABOUT THE CANADIENS (18-13-5): Coach Claude Julien juggled his lineup by elevating Paul Byron to the No. 1 unit and dropping Tomas Tatar to the No. 2 line -- and it paid off when Byron delivered the game-winning goal. Captain Shea Weber also tallied for Montreal, giving the team power-play goals in back-to-back games after going 0-for-25. “Two games in a row, but we got to keep that going,” Weber said. “I think even a few games before that we had some good power plays. Obviously, not all of them, but I thought there was some signs of life and hopefully we can keep that rolling.”
ABOUT THE GOLDEN KNIGHTS (20-15-2): Paul Stastny, playing in his fourth game after sitting out 30 contests due to a lower-body injury, scored the tiebreaking goal, won 12 of 17 faceoffs and handled penalty-killing duties in Thursday's victory. “The more of those guys you got, the better your team is going to be,” coach Gerard Gallant said. “Everybody has to be responsible both ways and it makes you a better team. You get more wins for sure.” Brandon Pirri, called up from the Chicago Wolves when former Montreal captain Max Pacioretty went on injured reserve, notched a power-play tally in his first game.
