Fight analysis

Shara Magomedov is a bit of a curiosity. Unable to compete in the United States due to having one eye, "Bullet" is restricted to overseas appearances, though the UFC is doing their part to move him along as he's up against heavy-handed Michał Oleksiejczuk in the co-main event of the evening. In reality, this is a showcase fight for Magomedov against a slightly better opponent than he's faced so far.

The one-eyed Muay Thai striker takes a moment to get going, but he turns into a perpetual motion machine when fully engaged. He's landing a stunning 7.10 significant strikes per minute at 74% accuracy and has looked nothing short of a monster in his two UFC fights. Granted, they've come against opponents tailor-made to his style, but Oleksiejczuk falls into this category and has been submitted in his last three defeats.

While Oleksiejczuk is capable of landing big shots and has competed as high as light heavyweight in the past, he isn't a complex fighter to figure out and is prone to making the kind of mistakes that put him in bad spots. The careful and methodical Magomedov doesn't fight in a manner where Oleksiejczuk gets the jump on him and puts him in a bad spot where he's unprepared for his offense. If anything, Oleksiejczuk will be on the back foot as Magomedov begins to pressure him towards the end of the first round, suffocating him with activity.

This should be an offensive showcase for Magomedov. He'll pick Oleksiejczuk apart and score a dominant win.

Best best analysis

Magomedov doesn’t jump on his opponents and takes his time to download them before turning up his offense. That might be enough to give Oleksiejczuk some opportunities to land some power shots and keep Magomedov honest, preventing him from swarming him early on in the fight.

Oleksiejczuk has only been knocked out once in his career and Magomedov doesn’t have the submission background to exploit his inability to defend against them. It’s possible that Magomedov could force a referee stoppage later in the fight, but the best bet to make is that the bout goes Over 1.5 rounds.
