Liberty vs Wings Predictions, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s WNBA Game

These two teams couldn't be on more opposite ends of the spectrum, and New York should pulverize the Wings in its quest for the No. 1 seed.

The New York Liberty are just a few wins away from clinching the top seed in the WNBA, and a two-game set against the Dallas Wings could seal it.

With Dallas officially out of the playoff picture, my Liberty vs Wings predictions are expecting the No. 1 seed to take care of business in Big D. Find out more in my WNBA picks for September 10!

Liberty vs Wings predictions

My best bet
Liberty -10 (-108 at FanDuel)

My analysis
The New York Liberty have 17 wins in their last 20 games — tops in the league over that timeframe — and they're enjoying a WNBA-best +9.7-point differential.

Their offense has been above average, ranking Top 4 in scoring, rebounding and assists, but they’ve really cranked up the defense. New York has the top stop unit in the league over the last 20, holding teams to 74.8 points per game.

Meanwhile, the Dallas Wings bowed out of the playoff race with a whimper, getting smacked 92-77 by the Chicago Sky. At best, the Wings have the ability to play the role of spoiler, as their remaining five games (N.Y. x2, Seattle, Indiana and Las Vegas) all involve playoff-bound teams jockeying for positioning.

They definitely have the offense to go toe-to-toe with anyone — posting 85.7 ppg — but their defense has anchored the Wings near the league basement, surrendering a woeful 94 ppg.

New York took both ends of a two-game set against Dallas at Barclays Aug 20 and 22, winning 94-74 in the opener and 79-71 two days later.

In both contests, the Liberty ruled the glass, owning a +27 rebound advantage. New York also won the turnover battle, giving it a distinctive +17 advantage in points off turnovers. The Liberty will dominate the Wings once again to cover this lofty spread.

Liberty vs Wings same-game parlay (SGP)

Liberty -10

Breanna Stewart Over 21.5 points

Arike Ogunbowale Under 21.5 points

Breanna Stewart had another big scoring night, going for 21 points and 11 rebounds in the win over Vegas. In 10 games since returning from the Olympics, she’s scored 21+ seven times.

Stewart has also been the team’s leading scorer in both wins over the Wings, going for 26 points and 12 boards in the opener, then 19 points, seven boards and six assists in the follow up.

Arike Ogunbowale has scored 21+ points in eight of 10 games. The only two where she failed to hit the 20-point plateau were against these same Liberty, who limited the WNBA’s second-leading scorer to 17 points and 19 points respectively. Ogunbowale shot 38.7% over those two outings, and I don't see that getting better this time around.
