The Toronto Blue Jays and 40,000 fans were humbled last night by Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Falling 12-2 to LA on Friday, the Jays will need more than three innings from starter Yusei Kikuchi if they want to win as +120 dogs this afternoon, but the struggling offense is in for a tough matchup vs. LA’s Tyler Glasnow.

I don’t have high hopes for this lineup putting four or more runs on the board vs. a much tougher starter — especially with the lack of production at the top of the order.

Find out more in my MLB picks and Dodgers vs. Blue Jays predictions for Saturday, April 27.

Dodgers vs Blue Jays prediction

My best bet
Blue Jays team total Under 3.5 (-130 at PROLINE+)

My analysis

The Toronto Blue Jays offense faced a promising matchup last night vs. Los Angeles Dodgers starter Gavin Stone, but once again, this offense showed in front of a giant crowd at the Rogers Centre.

Stone recorded a career-high 21 outs vs. the Jays and gave up just two hits. The top of the Blue Jays order continues to struggle with George Springer hitting .228 at the top, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. flirting with the Medoza Line, and Bo Bichette sporting a .216 BA.

This afternoon, Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow should carve up this fleeting Jays lineup.

The former top prospect is striking out 30% of the batters he's facing and bounced back in a big way in his last start, going eight scoreless innings vs. the Mets and striking out 10 without issuing a free pass. If the Toronto bats struggled vs. Stone, they should be petrified of Glasnow.

The LA bullpen is well rested after needing only one low-leverage arm in yesterday's 12-2 win. Toronto's team total is listed at 3.5, and considering this is an offense that ranks in the lower third in home runs and batting average, getting to Glasnow and the Dodgers relievers for 4+ runs is unlikely.

Blue Jays star player prop

My best bet
Bo Bichette Under 0.5 hits (+190 at PROLINE+)

Bo has gone hitless in three straight games and I expect the cold streak to continue against Glasnow. Over nine at-bats, the Jays' shortstop has just one hit off the LA starter.

Bichette is hitting leadoff today, but with Vlad paying +140 to go hitless out of the two-hole, +190 is tough to pass up.

  • Run line: Los Angeles -1.5 (+100) | Toronto +1.5 (-120)
  • Moneyline: Los Angeles -160 | Toronto +135
  • Over/Under: Over 8 (-115) | Under 8 (-105)

Dodgers vs Blue Jays spread and Over/Under analysis

  • The Dodgers have moved from -165 to -140 as of 11:30 am today. The total has also dipped from an opening number of 8 to 7.5.
  • The Jays used five bullpen arms last night and might not have their preferred middle relievers if Yusei Kikuchi can't go deep. The Dodgers used one reliever arm last night, so an abundance of their bullpen will be available.
  • Per Covers' prop projections, Glasnow is expected to record 16.6 outs while Kikuchi projects for 14.34.
  • Guerrero is just 1-for-16 over his last four games and has just two extra-base hits across 10 home games this season.
