With a convincing win on Thursday Night Football, the New York Jets saw their Super Bowl odds shorten slightly from +2,200 to +2,000 but there is still work to be done for Gang Green.

As we roll into Sunday's NFL slate, I'll have my eye on the New Orleans Saints, who, with a win vs. the Philadelphia Eagles, could see their odds shorten up drastically.

Join me as I break down the odds for the 2025 Super Bowl slated for Sunday, February 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

2025 Super Bowl odds

The Kansas City Chiefs are the Super Bowl 59 betting favorites with the San Francisco 49ers and the Philadelphia Eagles close behind in the latest NFL odds.

2025 Super Bowl favorites

Kansas City Chiefs (+440 to +490)

Kansas City Chiefs fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief redux.

For the second straight week, the Chiefs were in trouble, this time trailing the Cincinnati Bengals late in the fourth quarter. If not for a defensive pass interference call against the Bengals on fourth down, KC likely would have lost.

Patrick Mahomes was a little shaky, throwing for just 151 yards with two TDs and two picks. Rashee Rice was again the focal point of the passing game, hauling in five catches for 75 yards and a major. Travis Kelce's disappearing act continued, though, with the TE making one five-yard catch in the first half and then... nothing.

The biggest story from the game is Isiah Pacheco's injury. The RB hurt his ankle on the game's final drive and left the stadium on crutches and in a walking boot. By virtue of being the defending champions and starting the season 2-0, the Chiefs are understandably drawing the shortest odds, even if they have looked a little vulnerable getting there.

San Francisco 49ers (+501 to +650)

The San Francisco 49ers placed Christian McCaffrey on the IR with Achilles tendinitis and is without a timeline for return. Trailing 20-7 entering the fourth quarter in Sunday's match with the Minnesota Vikings, San Francisco pushed for a late comeback but came up short.

Undrafted running back Jordan Mason ran for 100 yards and one touchdown, while Brock Purdy threw for 319 yards (110 of which went to Deebo Samuel).

The loss doesn't hurt too badly for a couple of reasons. Yes, not having CMC is a problem, but Mason has stepped up. The Niners also had to travel, and losing on the road in Minneapolis is not a concern. They won the time-of-possession battle by nearly 10 minutes and were only slightly outgained in total yardage.

They return to California for a road date with the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3. A loss there would raise the alarm bells. Until then, the Niners belong here.

Philadelphia Eagles (+1,100 to +1,200)

The Philadelphia Eagles managed to turn an almost sure-fire win into a one-point loss as they fell to the Atlanta Falcons 22-21 on Monday Night Football.

On third and three with time winding down and Atlanta out of timeouts, the Eagles decided to throw the ball and it was incomplete which stopped the clock.

Those 40 seconds would come back to haunt them as the Falcons would drive straight down the field down six, and find paydirt.

A chance to cement themselves as a legitimate favorite has gone begging.

Buffalo Bills (+950 to +1,200)

The Buffalo Bills throttled the Miami Dolphins 31-10 on Thursday Night Football in Week 2. It helped quiet the doubters, who may have been circling after they narrowly beat the Arizona Cardinals in Week 1.

The Bills didn't need much from Josh Allen, either, as he completed just 13 passes on 19 attempts for 139 yards and a touchdown. James Cook ran for 78 and two scores to serve as the difference.

Buffalo tightened up when it needed to, and Allen's injured left hand didn't seem to factor too much into the outcome. Now, with extra days off before a Monday Night Football game in Week 3, Allen could be closer to full strength.

Detroit Lions (+1,000 to +1,200)

The Detroit Lions built a reputation of being nearly unbeatable at Ford Field. However, they fell to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, making the Lions seem at least somewhat vulnerable.

But this mirrors 2023 a bit, too. Detroit opened the year with a tight win on the road (then vs. Kansas City) before getting beaten at home vs. a seemingly lesser opponent (the Seattle Seahawks). This year, the Bucs came to town and upset the home side.

Detroit is back on the road against the Cardinals in Week 3, so we'll get a better sense of who the Lions are in a bounce-back situation.

Super Bowl 2025 odds best bet

Given the way the odds are shaped early in the season, it's hard for me to overlook the San Francisco 49ers at +550 over at FanDuel Sportsbook

We know what the 49ers can do with a fully healthy squad, which is important, but what they did against the Jets on Monday Night Football cannot be overlooked.

Yes, you can say "It was the Jets and a 41-year-old Aaron Rodgers", but not only did the defense show up in a big way, the offense didn't skip a beat.

Jordan Mason filled in nicely for CMC, running with authority and finding the gaps, while the likes of Purdy, Deebo Samuel, Jauan Jennings, and George Kittle all contributed to the cause.

It helped that Jake Moody nailed six field goals, but the overall product from the Niners is hard to overlook.

Over a full 18 games, with an excellent defense, an offense that can attack you in a multitude of ways, and great coaching, my money is on the Niners.

Early line movement

Those looking for an inside edge when betting on the Super Bowl might want to follow the early line moves. Sharp professional players are most often the first ones to bet the Big Game odds the second they hit the board, and they’ve been right more often than they’ve been wrong in recent years.

Over the last 14 Super Bowls, the early money has been on the right side on 11 occasions (with one game resulting in a push).
