Favorites to win the Premier League
Liverpool
Liverpool will enter the 2025-26 season as the defending Champions, and if history is any indication, they'll likely not be able to defend their crown.
The last time the Reds successfully defended their title was in 1982-83 and 1983-84, long before the existence of the Premier League we know today.
With plenty of uncertainty surrounding who will or won't return to the squad, betting them at their current odds of +187 seems like a number void of any value.
Manchester City
I personally believe the fall of Man City has been greatly exaggerated.
This is a team that has won the lot and simply did not have enough in reserve for another gauntlet of fixtures.
With much of the same team expected back, including Pep, a refresher in the offseason will serve them well (especially with no International competitions).
I see much more value with Man City than I do with either Liverpool or Arsenal.
Past English Premier League champions
Liverpool clinched their second Premier League title in 2024-25. Here are the previous Premier League Champions over the last 12 years:
Season | EPL Champion | Runner-Up |
---|---|---|
2024-25 | Liverpol | Arsenal |
2023-24 | Manchester City | Arsenal |
2022-23 | Manchester City | Arsenal |
2021-22 | Manchester City | Liverpool |
2020-21 | Manchester City | Manchester United |
2019-20 | Liverpool | Manchester City |
2018-19 | Manchester City | Liverpool |
2017-18 | Manchester City | Manchester United |
2016-17 | Chelsea | Tottenham |
2015-16 | Leicester City | Arsenal |
2014-15 | Chelsea | Manchester City |
2013-14 | Manchester City | Liverpool |

- The Premier League runners-up have gone on to win the title in the following year 28% of the time.
- Only seven clubs have won the Premier League title since its introduction in 1992.
Understanding EPL betting odds
EPL futures odds are constantly adjusted throughout the offseason due to player transfers and injuries. Once the season begins, title odds will change as teams win and lose games and as more players get hurt or suspended. Sportsbooks will also adjust EPL odds based on handle and liability to certain teams.
EPL futures odds will usually look like this:
Manchester United +350
This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to win $350 if Manchester City wins the EPL Championship. If it's close to the end of the competition, or a club has been particularly dominant, you might see them with a minus sign (-) ahead of their odds.
Liverpool -500
This means that you would need to bet $500 to win just $100 on a Liverpool championship.
