Against the spread (ATS) pick
The Seattle Seahawks may have one of the best players in the league in QB Russell Wilson, but massive injuries to their secondary and linebackers have Seattle allowing the league’s highest mark of 6.6 yards per play. It’s amazing that Seattle is 3-0 ATS after allowing nearly 30 points per game. Two weeks ago, they squeaked out a win and cover by making a stop on the final play of the game on the one-yard line, and last week they covered on a late TD.
The Miami Dolphins have covered in back-to-back weeks by scoring 59 points. The offense has been efficient as RB Myles Gaskin has emerged as the lead back and Ryan Fitzpatrick has found success in the passing game targeting Gaskin, TE Mike Gesicki and WR Devante Parker. All three of these players could have a monster game as Seattle is allowing a league-high 6.8 yards per pass attempt, and that number could be even higher in Week 4 with more injuries to their defense. Depth, travel and Miami’s extra rest and prep time are a perfect concoction that has us leaning on the points.
PREDICTION: Miami +6.5 (-110)
Over/Under pick
As mentioned above, the Seahawks are tied for the league-lead in yards allowed per pass. The other team tied for that mark will be on the other side of the field Sunday. Miami has played once at home this year and they allowed over 400 yards passing to Josh Allen and the Bills in a 31-28 loss. The Dolphins have not seen a total of 50 or higher this year but Seattle had no problem topping last week’s 58.
We all know Wilson will be able to score at will like he has all year, with his 14 TDs to 24 incompletions, but with RB Chris Carson banged up and questionable, the Seahawks may have to rely on the league's best passing attack even more. If Adams and Dunbar are ruled out, this total could creep even higher.
PREDICTION: Over 54.5 (-110)
Prop Pick
This is a tough one with so many players having the potential to have a big game. But looking at team totals, the Dolphins could make us some money if they score 24 points — something each of Seattle’s three opponents has done this year.
If Seattle pushed the pace, which they likely will, Fitzpatrick has no problem swinging it and is coming off a game where he was 18 for 20, and threw for over 310 yards in Week 2. Miami can make plays in the passing game at all three levels (RB/TE/WR) and benefit enormously against one of the league’s most injured defenses.
PREDICTION: Miami Over team total 23.5 (-118)
