Formula 1 heads to the United Arab Emirates for the 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on Sunday, December 8.

Max Verstappen has won this race in each of the last four years and is coming off a win in Qatar last weekend.

While he opened a narrow favorite in the Formula 1 odds, that's no longer the case following qualifying. Read more below.

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2024 pre-qualifying favorites

Max Verstappen has dominated Abu Dhabi for four straight years, and a fifth win at Yas Marina Circuit would tie him with Lewis Hamilton for most ever at the event. But, as anyone who has followed F1 in 2024 knows, we can't expect a clockwork performance from him.

Verstappen's up-and-down season still earned another Driver's Championship, and another win could certainly be in the offing, but the Constructor's Championship is still up for grabs.

McLaren is decisively ahead of Ferrari, though, so a Lando Norris win would put it on ice. But Charles Leclerc, who was runner-up to Verstappen in Qatar, is third on the odds board and could throw a wrench into Norris' spokes (figuratively speaking, of course).

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2024 post-qualifying picks

Race winner: Lando Norris
-150 at DraftKings

There's no doubt about it: Lando Norris' performances from the pole position have been outright disappointing, as McLaren's lead man has managed just two first-place finishes from six pole positions.
His most recent pole position failures include his sixth-place finish at the Sao Paulo GP and his fourth-place finish at the U.S. Grand Prix, failures that ultimately killed his chance of catching Max Verstappen in the Drivers' Championship standings.
However, Norris still has plenty to race for, as he sits just eight points ahead of Charles Leclerc, with McLaren sitting 21 points ahead of Ferrari. McLaren will likely go to every length to use Oscar Piastri to keep Leclerc from threatening Norris.

Best bet: Max Verstappen
+650 at DraftKings

If someone were to play spoiler to Lando's pole position, it would be MaxVerstappen. Despite having clinched the Drivers' Championship two races ago, Max continues to show out.
He's now the winner of two of the last three races following a 10-race drought that was his longest since 2020, and while he sits in fifth position to begin the race, he should have no issue passing up Nico Hulkenberg (fourth) and Carlos Sainz (third) before reaching the McLaren pair.
And if McLaren begins to feel pressured by Verstappen, it's not beyond the imagination that they wouldn't put up too big of a fight as their main concern would be Leclerc and Sainz.
Verstappen has also won four straight races here, demonstrating undeniable form here. Plus, it would serve as a great reminder that he remains at the top despite this season's struggles.

Understanding F1 betting odds

The most popular way to bet on Formula 1 odds is by simply picking the winner of a particular race. Other popular F1 betting options include which car/constructor will win and whether or not a particular race car driver will end up on the podium with a Top-3 finish.

F1 race odds usually look like this:

  • Sergio Perez +1,400

This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to profit $1,400 if Perez wins that particular race. If one driver is especially dominant, you might see a minus sign (-) ahead of that driver's odds like this:

  • Max Verstappen -120

This means that you would need to bet $120 to win $100 on Verstappen winning the race.
