F1 Australian Grand Prix 2025 pre-qualifying favorites
The Top 3 in the pre-qualifying betting for the Australian GP mirror the Top 3 choices in the 2025 Drivers' Championship race, with Lando Norris of McLaren pacing Max Verstappen of Red Bull and Charles Leclerc of Ferrari. Norris has never won here before, while Verstappen and Leclerc each own a victory at Albert Park Circuit over the last three years.
Of the six full-time newcomers to F1, Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes bears the shortest pre-qualifying odds.
F1 Australian Grand Prix 2025 post-qualifying picks
Race prediction: Norris to Win (+150 at bet365)
Verstappen might have claimed the drivers’ championship last year, but Norris has emerged as perhaps the likely racer that can steal some shine away from the celebrated Red Bull driver.
Norris ended the 2024 season with a win in Abu Dhabi, and he looks like business out of the gates in 2025, blistering the Albert Park track with a time of 1:15.096 to earn the first available pole this season.
McLaren teammate Piastri was +0.084 behind, with Verstappen at +0.385 to claim the third starting spot.
Verstappen has had some concerns with Red Bull’s New RB21 car, going so far to call the McLaren teammate Norris and Oscar Piastri the title favorites for 2025.
While Piastri looked great in qualifying, no Aussie has ever won the Australian Grand Prix. He was close to becoming the first to ever start in pole position.
Norris finished 2024 with four wins, part of 13 podium finishes — one of those a third-place finish in Australia.
Best bet: Lewis Hamilton Podium Finish (+225 at bet365)
It definitely wasn’t the debut Lewis Hamilton wanted in his new Ferrari ride, but the Englishman knows Australia.
He’s taken the pole eight times at the Aussie Grand Prix, but on Sunday he’ll be starting in the eighth spot alongside teammate Charles LeClerc.
Ferrari usually get it done on this track, with 28 podium finishes in the event’s history.
Hamilton recorded a DNF last year in Australia. Minus two events wiped out by COVID and a fourth-place finish in 2022, Hamilton has touched the podium in every other race since 2015.
With rain potentially in the forecast on race day, Hamilton could weave his way through the slick track and gain you a betting win.

Understanding F1 betting odds
The most popular way to bet on Formula 1 odds is by simply picking the winner of a particular race. Other popular F1 betting options include which car/constructor will win and whether or not a particular race car driver will end up on the podium with a Top-3 finish.
F1 race odds usually look like this:
- Charles Leclerc +400
This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to profit $400 if Leclerc wins that particular race. If one driver is especially dominant, you might see a minus sign (-) ahead of that driver's odds like this:
- Max Verstappen -120
This means that you would need to bet $120 to win $100 on Verstappen winning the race.
