Las Vegas Grand Prix 2024 pre-qualifying favorites
Max Verstappen won the first Las Vegas Grand Prix last year and took the top spot on the podium at the Sao Paulo GP in his last race, breaking a 10-race winless stretch in the process. At +185, he's drawing the shortest odds in this year's field, but that's hardly a vote of confidence akin to what he was seeing at his pinnacle.
Lando Norris and Charles Leclerc are next in line at +230 and +285, respectively. Norris last won in Singapore on September 22 while Leclerc found the winner's circle more recently at the United States GP on October 20.
Verstappen is not the dominant force we've seen the past few years, as his recent prolonged drought attests, but he won this event last year and is still en route to claiming another Drivers Championship since the rest of the field hasn't produced a singular challenger to his status atop the leaderboard. Next year may tell a different story, but he's still on top for now.
Las Vegas Grand Prix 2024 post-qualifying picks
Race prediction: Charles LeClerc to win (+250 at FanDuel)
None of the three drivers atop the Drivers' standings managed to finish inside the Top 3 of Saturday's qualifying round, with an eclectic combination of George Russell, Carlos Sainz, and Pierre Gasly topping the grid.
Yet despite that, Charles LeClerc is curiously the odds-on favorite to win Sunday's Las Vegas Grand Prix, but for good reason.
LeClerc has been abnormally consistent since late July, having hit the podium in six of the eight races during that span and having won the USA Grand Prix a month ago.
The Ferrari lead also put on an impressive performance in last year's inaugural Las Vegas Grand Prix, narrowly losing to Verstappen by two seconds — one of Verstappen's closest races of his historically dominant year.
And with LeClerc within 24 points of second-place Lando Norris in the Drivers' standings, it would be entirely unsurprising for Ferrari to prioritize LeClerc over second-position Carlos Sainz, potentially relegating Sainz to a positioning chess piece during the race.
Best bet: Max Verstappen to win (+650 at DraftKings)
While it's unideal in most circumstances to double down in the outright winner market, this race may be the exception. Verstappen is, of course, last year's inaugural winner, climbing from second position to ultimately pass and beat Charles LeClerc.
And after a 10-race losing streak that was his longest since the 2020 season, Verstappen masterfully won the last race, climbing all the way from 17th position.
To put into context how otherworldly that performance was, it was just the second win in F1's history from the 17th position since its inception in 1950, and it was just the fifth win ever from a position of 17th or worse.
That type of performance, combined with his showing here last year, makes him an undeniably good driver to back on Sunday.

Understanding F1 betting odds
The most popular way to bet on Formula 1 odds is by simply picking the winner of a particular race. Other popular F1 betting options include which car/constructor will win and whether or not a particular race car driver will end up on the podium with a Top-3 finish.
F1 race odds usually look like this:
- Sergio Perez +1,400
This means that on a $100 bet, you'll stand to profit $1,400 if Perez wins that particular race. If one driver is especially dominant, you might see a minus sign (-) ahead of that driver's odds like this:
- Max Verstappen -120
This means that you would need to bet $120 to win $100 on Verstappen winning the race.
