I know many are seasoned bettors, recreational and also many newbies visit and post. I also expect some flack posting this in boxing, but never-the-less, if it helps the bettors, let it be. I felt a little information since basketball is starting maybe a brief guideline in comparing football to basketball wagering. Sometimes a little info can go along ways! This comparison also should be made for newbies betting MMA vs Boxing, so it does have some validation and I appreciate the constant support here. Surface: Basketball, besides for logo’s, all are the same. Football you have artificial surfaces (use to be grass, or mixed) that are different texture, and the many different effects the weather, rain, snow, sleet, wind and temperature have upon an athletes footing and maneuvering, not to mention the texture of the ball’s surface. Even dome’s have severe wind drafts causing field goal kickers problems with a swirling wind. Scoring Attempts: The typical NFL game involves and average from 6 to 8 scoring situations, as compared to 100 to 120 in an NBA game. Consider this? A judgment call by an official can swing a game up to 14 points (16 / 2pt conversions), or 2 scoring situations, which equates to about 25% of average scoring situations in a game. In basketball, a judgment call by a referee will usually swing a game an average of 4 points (7 pts w/ 3 pointers & foul). Measure this against 100 or more situations in an NBA game, and you will see that it amounts to only about a 2% swing in an average game involving well over 200 points. Possessions: In basketball the number of possessions is around 400 or more including the total for both teams. In football the number of possessions are somewhere around 20 when including both teams. This equates to a disparity of about 20 to 1 in favor of basketball, which better represents team skill, leaving chance much less of a determinant in a game’s final outcome. Daily Action: Unlike football where the vast majority of games are played only on weekends, basketball is played everyday over a 7 month season. Obviously, this gives the winning sports bettor much more opportunities to make money. More Opportunities (More Money): With more games, more scoring situations per game, fewer players, and a much simple game, relevant mathematics and good money management strongly favor the in-depth handicapper betting on basketball for profit rather than football. It definitely gives the basketball bettor a chance to make many times more money than in football. Bankroll Turnover: One can turn over one’s betting bankroll in basketball up to eight more often than he might in football. This equates to making much more money. Also, the astute basketball handicapper can win at a higher percentage than his equivalent in football. This factor alone can compound winnings much faster, especially when using a predetermined percentage of bankroll per play, and increasing bet size on a plateau basis. Thanks for your patience and I hope it helps anyone who wagers multiple sports. Good Luck to ALL!

the biggest difference and to me the only one that matters is that point spreads in football actually mean something, 3 is a field goal, 7 a touchdown and so on, but what the fuck is 7 pts in basketball, 2 3 pointers and a free throw, 2 baskets and a 3pointer, 5 free throws and a dunk, points spreads in basketball are much harder to evaluate and to me making it much harder to be sucessfull, at least for me I make much more money during college football season as opposed to college basketball, the only benifit that I see in college basketball is on saturdays, their are so many games, so it is much harder for the guys in vegas to get each line down pat. meaning their will be a couple of lines on sat that will be slightly off, the more games to chose from the better, also I believe that home court advantage in basketball is slightly more important than in football. looking for home dogs or slight home fav (4 points and under is what I usually look for in college hoops. but overall I believe it`s much easier to bet football than basketball and for me it`s not even close.

Qncyk1: Odd you always add a post after walktheline had an issue regarding my post. Why are you so interested in my posts? Many people post ICONS, totally nothing,.. I post a simple handicapping thread that won't hurt or insult anyone and you jump on it. Grow up! EricLinny: I hear ya, and remember what you said before, but this was totally harmless post and one for people who bet the NFL and believe they can beat it. I thought I would explain briefly why and how basketball can be analyzed and you can be a winner yearly. thesoulpurpose: I use to watch many CFB games, but since I don't anymore using and type of stats is ridiculous for me. NFL, I'd start doing middle this time of year as linemakers are more accurate as the season goes on. GL w/ football and if it works for you then it's all good. I just posted a simple thing for general bettors so if they look deep into it they have many more options and many more opportunities to make a big BR if they put in the time handicapping and being patient. walktheline: You been very silent since your great Ortiz was a man of nothing Mayweather has ever seen... Ortiz did something you should... QUIT redundant attacks and post something positive. You an your alias or buddy Qnck1 seem to post together.

You're pathetic. I'm an alias? Lmao, I've been on this forum week after week, YEAR after YEAR. You're the one with the questionable background pal. Also, you keep acting like Oritz got his ass kicked. That fight was even in rounds 2-2, minus the point for the headbutt.
Confident I stated several times I had Dawson quite large. Do you every post ANY selections? Feel free to talk about boxing all you want, as you already do.
Why was your last thread removed about non-boxing? Because it didn't belong here. You knowingly posting things in the wrong forums is a complete dick move. Quit being such a clown.
Also, as far as aliases are concerned, you're very easy to spot. Anyone that has been here for any length of time should easily be able to identify you.

Geez, Dawson heavily. Do a search, see if I selected Dawson because he was the much stronger true light heavyweight and had a jab that would give B-Hop problems... you won't quote that will you!!!!! I'm EZ to spot? Yeah, that's why we have usernames - WOW, what a revelation!

You made a post that agreed and used my write-up as an example: B Hop and underdog? Let's get serious

but this fight I say Dawson wins around 8 or 9 rounds to win a decision.

I thought that was a brief analysis but enough. I didn't state anything regarding you and the Dawson fight and I remember you had the same side. I didn't see anymore to add to it similar to Mayweather-Ortiz because Floyd was on a different level to Ortiz.
