Clottley v Pacman

Guys I think this is a VERY dangerous fight for Pacman. Clottey come to the ring against Cotto at 170! and whilst Cotto knocked him down, it was a flash knockdown and Clottey was never hurt.

The problem with Clottey is at times he just switches off for reasons only know to him. In round 6 of the Cotto fight Clottey was coming right back into the fight then he goes to sleep for 2 rounds. On my card he won the lasy 5 rounds and overall was the better fighter on the night. He goes through lulls in fights abd pacman will murder him if he does the same here.

Pacmans speed will give him a world of problems but I simply CANNOT see Pacman KOing this guy. He is a beast at 147 with a cast iron jaw. The obvious pick is pacman on points but this is a time betting the dog might not be a bad pick..

Yes would we all love Pacman and Mayweather but this is not a bad replacement

Like I've said in previous posts, I'd have to question Pac-Man's motivation here and subsequent preparation (Has anyone confirmed that he's @ the Wild Card yet ?). He usually does an eight week training camp if I'm not mistaken.....times a tickin'!!

Boxing conspirasists will tell you that Arum would not let another Top Rank fighter beat up on his "cash cow". Now I don't necessarily subscribe to that, but it is boxing and nothing could be too far fetched. Hell, they couldn't even make a > 200 million dollar fight happen!! But that was due in part to one guy thinking he was bigger than the sport and believing he should be dictating the rules and not the sanctioned governing body.....but that's a whole other story for a different thread.

I can't imagine Manny losing to Clottey, but was a little surprised to see Pacquiao open at a relatively modest -400.  Shouldn't have opened in the -600/+400 or higher range?

Clottey is one tough son of a bitch.  I think he will hold up better than Cotto.  I wouldn't mind seeing this fight in that stadium either.  -400 is the opening number and I'm not sure what to think about it.  I want to see the total rounds line.  I like Clottey to give Manny a fight.  He is a large welterweight.  I know we all said the same thing about Cotto but I think Clottey can hang and let the judges sort it all out.

I think Pacman slaughters him.  Clottey is tough but he is nowhere near fast enough to keep Pac honest, he will be in a turtle shell all night.  I don't see how Pac doesn't point him to death

and by saying that, I'd agree this makes the final bell.  More of a testament to Clottey being a tough sonofabitch.  I wouldn't be surprised if there's another flash knockdown of Clottey though, just due to all the angles that Pac throws from.

after all the allegations, it will be interesting to see if pacquiao will choose to be dominant or choose to level with clottey... i mean will he fake almost losing to clottey just to discharge steroids issues hehe

Ghana's Joshua Clottey has promised to shock the world by knocking out the world's best pound-for-pound fighter Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao, when the two clash on March 13 in Dallas.

Speaking in an interview with East Side Boxing of the USA, Clottey 35-3 (20) whose last fight was a loss to Puerto Rican Miguel Cotto, said he had always dreamt about fighting the best boxer and therefore the fight against Pacman is a dream-come-true.

 “Yes, this is the fight I have always wanted. I've always wanted fights like this - against the best fighters in the world,” he told the renowned East Side Boxing.

He explained: “I really want to prove my point in this fight; prove to the whole world that I am the best. I'm so happy to get this fight with the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.”

Clottey, who jetted to the USA on Tuesday to sign for the bout, said he had started some light training, jogging in the morning and in the evening.

On who to spar with since Pacquiao is a southpaw, Clottey said he would think about it later.

“But one thing about me is I know how to handle southpaws easy. Miguel Cotto switched to southpaw in the fight and it was no problem. So I'm not concerned about Pacquiao's stance. I can handle that good.”

Over 9.5 is -170.  That is money.  I am very surprised at this number.

Clottey is a very dangerous guy for anybody at WW. I bet Floyd wont dare fight this beast.

Mack good write up, but this will be a small play for me.

I don't trust this fight, if you break it down Clottey would destroy him, great chin, great jab, good body puncher... and way TOO BIG he gains 20-25 pounds after the weigh-in.

I know people will say I'm nuts but I just don't trust this fight, if Clottey was not an ARUM fighter I would be all over Clottey!

Sadly I seen Joshua Clottey "Carry a fighter" (Cotto) so Cotto can go on to fight Pac-man.

All I can add for this fight.. is that Clottey has an awful Tendency to LEAN in a lot, almost "LUNGE" forward . That's his main flaw.

Clottey is the best body puncher Pac-man has ever faced. He does it with BOTH hands. We all know Pac-man doesn't like it to the body.

SO a small play on ITD (No ODDS Yet but Vegas seems to think this is going deep as the Over is -170) so should be a great prop *ITD*).

Right now Pac-man is -400  Clottey +280 if they both weren't ARUM fighters I would be all over Clottey. Too bad reality is Clottey is Arum's Puppet!

I like ITD for a small play mainly due to cuts/DQ and if the fight is legit Clottey KO's Manny, and if it's bogus Manny will KO HIM.

I cannot see this lasting 12 rounds... Pacman's aggression versus Clottey carrying all that weight and fading late.. doesn't add up to to the final bell ringing!               ITD         

Clottey cannot even speak english they speak "Gah" or some crap in his corner.

What you read was a nicely worded script Bob Arum had printed. Nothing more than that. Clottey has millions upon millions of reasons to be happy.

once clottey feels one of pacmans punches he will start to break down. This fight wont go the distance. I take pacman within 7 rounds on a TKO or KO!!

I agree with Nicky, The OVER is money!!! Clottey has a brick head and is huge compared to Pac....I think Pac outpoints him but his hands will ache after 6 rounds and he cruises to a points victory
