Definitely should have been a DQ, it wasn't even a bang-bang play, Abraham saw him down (both knee and glove) and gave him a cheap shot.
Definitely Dirrell dominated the fight, but Arthur was really picking up steam the last few rounds and still had a chance to catch him and completely got what he deserved.
That being said, Dirrell DEFINITELY embellished the severity of the shot there is no question about it.
I am personally annoyed that the end of the fight took the focus off how the ref ruled two clear knockdowns as slips (when Arthur was clearly saved and held up by the ropes at the end of the round and when Arthur cracked Dirrell with a straight right when their feet were tangled up) that was brutal job by a usually solid referee.
Well said I had Abraham myself because I felt he would catch Dirrell late.
Fact is Abraham was coming on strong but what he did was an automatic DQ.
What people need to realize is Dirrell was 100 % defenseless.. and laying on the ground not only did Abraham get a ton of leverage on the punch but the guy was already on the floor.
I give credit to Dirrell he is learning on the fly, he really never had tough fights, he did well against Froch and realized he held too much (he admitted it in a statement).
Against Abraham he wasn't holding and landing good shots. many don't realize but he doesn't have many fights under his belt. He fought a bunch of tomato cans in his career.
So to do what he did against Froch and Abraham ...is a big thing for him.
So we won't know what could of happened.. if Dirrell would have lasted, but Abraham caused that all by himself by doing a cheap shot.
Top it off when Jim Gray was interviewing him and he clearly saw he hit him
way after he was down... he said "
He was acting".
Abraham needs to accept he was losing needed a knockout and was frustrated even though he was coming on strong no excuse for cheap shots.
The fans are left without a finish, Dirrell is left without a memory of a finish, and Abraham got what he deserved because he let frustration get the best of him even if he was coming on and felt he was going to KO Dirrell.
You KO the guy when he's standing not laying on the floor.
I know many are frustrated because they lost on the OVER on Dirrell by decision, or Abraham by KO.. but fact is he got DQ'd for a cheap shot.
I accept my loss even if it's for $50, faking it or not won't bring back anyone's money on the wager.
Hope Dirrell isn't too injured, last we need is two American with two concussions!
