I completely underestimated what he could do in this fight. I thought this was a joke fight. I thought he had Zero chance. But i was 100% wrong. Full credit to him. He fought a unbelievable fight. Nothing but praise for his effort. Thats almost as good as a win as far as i'm concerned
Definitely wasn't Free money on Floyd like i posted 8000 times here. It was a hard fought victory. But in the end Floyd by stoppage wins the wager and thats all that matters.
Cheers to the Irish!

Floyd and the ref allowed him to hang around. Mac would die against any other pro boxer in another bout. Zero skills. Good fun tonight though, nicely scripted.

I actually disagree. Don't get me wrong, absolute credit to Conor and his corner. They put on a hell of a fight. But there was never one moment where this fight wasn't EXACTLY where Mayweather wanted it to be or to go.
Floyd is a MASTERMIND when it comes to boxing. This guy is a pugilistic genius. He never once was out of control in this fight and if he WANTED to ended it 7 or 8 or maybe even in 5 or 6, he could have.
He let Conor win the first round or two because he wanted to measure him out. Nothing new for Floyd. And after round 5, when he absolutely knew Conor couldn't do anything to him, he started walking Conor down. He simply chopped him down like a small tree that Floyd knew he would be.
This was about 30 years of experience vs 5 months. This was 49 previous professional bouts vs zero professional bouts. This was why finding the bottom of the number on Floyd was the biggest key to betting this fight.
There was never one doubt as to who would win this. Erase the names from the records and there wouldn't be any doubt as to who anyone would lay money one at any reasonable odds. Erase the names and no one would give the 0-0 guy a chance. It's impressive that Conor made it to the 10th. But that's only because Floyd ALLOWED him to make it to 10.
This was what a clinic is all about. Floyd realistically could have ended this in 7, 8, 9, or 10 or later. It was about whatever FLOYD wanted. He barely broke a sweat. And people still bet on Conor thinking they had a realistic chance.

No doubt floyd set him up early to get him out of there late but McGregor still did 1000 times better than I thought he would but in the end it was a master class.
Floyd by stoppage won the money that's all that matters....

after what i saw, i would take mcgregor vs a lot of other top 5 boxers if he decided to fight them in the future. is mcgregor really that talented, OR is boxing a joke of a sport.
He gets iced by all of the top names. There are killers at 147 & 154. But a fight vs someone like Paulie malignaggi who's old and faded and B level could be competitive.

Teddy Atlas put it best. He's out in the first round against the current middle to head of the pack guys. Floyd, a wily veteran and 40 year old man, put on an exhibition. Conor did as good as you could expect from a guy turning pro against one of the grestest, after spending his time in the octagon but he looked very inexperience in the ring. I'll sum it up like this. Yesterday the mrs asked me if Conor had a shot. I gave her the standard "It's a fight, anything can happen, blah, blah, blah" line but then I said to her "...but..in the training footage i've seen of Conor, and it was very limited, I see him hitting mits and doing bag work, ect. and he looks like, well, me when I hit mits and punch bags. Now i've been training fight sports my whole life so I have form and technique but i'm not even going to put myself on the level of an experienced amateur. The fact that he resembled me during his mit work speaks highly for me but boded horribly for Conor. He's definitely inexperienced.
With that said, fghting Paulie would be a good 2nd fight for him. He should join the Money Team. He admittedly didn't bring in a boxing team for his training. Kept his regular guys. That was a mistake. He's to old to be World Class but with the right training he could get another 20ish million dollar pay day.
TIME TO BRING BACK THE OBAMA CAGES!

a. nobody who didn't win cash on this is going to watch this fight again (not a classic) b. floyd could have ended it in whatever round he chose after he got comfortable in round 3 c. conor will never be in the boxing ring again
that pretty much sums up the fight, or show, or whatever you call it.
sure he looked good if you're counting an amateur being in there for as long as he can as the measure.
giants cowboys sunday night, now that's a real fight.

Realistically though, I think Mayweather was doing the Ali move and just let the other guy tire himself out.
Mayweather kicked it in gear when he saw McG tiring.
If the fight had went to the cards that close before Mayweather turned it on he would have gotten screwed I think.

Listen, i talked a lot of crap about this fight. i posted Floyd by stoppage is free money 1000 times in these forums. And Went ALL-IN gambling on the fight.
Bottom line, McGregor did better than most people thought he would, myself included. I thought at most this went 6 rounds. Floyd was never in danger of losing and always winning this fight. But Floyd by stoppage was a stress job.
Was trying to be a humble winner with my opening post and give credit to McGregor, instead of gloating like a douche that i was 100% right all along and every single moron who doubted me can eat chit. Thats all this thread is. McGregor still gets killed by any legit Top 50 147 or 154 pounder. Don't be mistaken. And every moron who bet on him is clueless.

Well said.... Connor did GREAT .. the fight was not boring in my opinion... As a boxing fan im glad we didnt get a crappy amateur vs a skilled vet.. i think this was 1000x better than Indongo Crawford... Indongo was a bigger fraud ... i think this fight was wayyyy better than Chavez vs Canelo.... that was a shame ... Connor put on a better show than Chavez ..

I bet $1,500 on a FLoyd ko at -160, I thought it was going to be 3-5 round behind whooping which it probably would have been if Floyd through punches for the first 3 rounds, but Floyd played it smart and let Conor get tired first. I actually got a bit nervous at the end of the third round that Floyd might win a decision.

All Top 5 boxers would KO McGregor within 3 rounds. GGG, Canelo, Jacobs, Lemieux, and Joe Billy Saunders would light him up. The fight went as planned - give Mcgregor a few rounds to throw his hands counter with body shots then figure out footwork, timing, and speed then game on. 4th round on walked him down until TKO.
Conner did better than expected but don't get it twisted.

This is so so wrong. He and Paulie would do over 2 million buys. And he and Floyd would do an insane number for a 2nd fight regardless. And it'll probably happen again in a few years when Floyd needs some more $.

I don't understand how any of you thought that was a good fight, and I am a Connor fan. This fight was so fixed I have no idea how nobody is even speaking about this. Mcgregor looked like he was throwing punches in front of a glass mirror swinging but with no power at all. You're going to knock out the best fighter in the world swinging like that? He's known for his power and we dident even see more then maybe 2 shots at max with power. Connor 1 small black eye in 10 rounds !!!! Mayweather not even a scratch in 10 rounds !!! And people are saying they gave the fans what they paid for? Mayweather could of handled him in literally 60 seconds if he wanted too. And I won't lie all the hype I threw a little on Mcgreggor for the hell of it. These guys are best friends and all about the money. Sell sell sell is the name of the game.
