Greatest Fighters in boxing history
You didn't tell him about the book you wrote. Or how your superior you are to the rest of us. C'mon big guy your slipping....![]()
Big K - I like the thread, and it sounds that you know boxing, but you cant say Floyd Mayweather is a fraud. That insults your knowledge of the sport bro. An arrogant ASS, and a poor ambassador for the sport, HELL YES, but you've got to admit, he's dominated the sport of boxing for a long time..........
I'm 38 years old, and have been an AVID boxing fan for a long time, but I'm merely a Green Horn, i must admit, to the true "lore" of the sport. So there's guys on the above mentioned threads that I know nothing about. Out of respect for those with far more knowledge of the history of this sport, I'm not even going to attempt to say Floyd Mayweather is the greatest of all time, but I will firmly state he clearly has my vote for greatest fighter in my lifetime. Its probably not a good idea to spar w/ guys who know more than me, so IM NOT, but i will say that if you're posting in 2012, then you're still paying attention to the sport.......and if you dont think Floyd dominates this sport, then I have to say you dont know shit about boxing.....right now !!
Just to put this guy into a "dominating" prospective. Its a very accomplishing feat to truly "dominate" a sport, as it doesn't happen often, but I can think of a few for conversation sake. Tiger Woods, dominated the game of golf for many years, Roger Federer dominated Tennis for a period of time. Those are the two that stand out to me, as far as one player being the clear cut "best of the best" for an extended period of time. And both of those reigns started AFTER Floyd Mayweather, and of course, those reigns are over now. Say what you want about the guy, but if he wasn't such a greedy, arrogant, prick, you would see this dominance in a far greater light. If he was a blue collar guy, who gave a good interview, and respected the sport and people in general, he would be an icon. As it stands, he is what he is, and he cares about money and fame. He doesn't really show anyone any respect, so I'm sure hes not foolish enough to be seeking any, but you must admit, that motherfickjer wins boxing matches. The rules are laid out, the scoring system is laid out, the instructions are laid out, and there has been NO ONE to beat him at this game since he became a professional. And to say he hasn't fought top talent, I cant listen to that weak argument. This guy has barely got touched most of his professional career. Check out any of his post fight interviews, IF you can stomach it (I know).......but the dude takes NO DAMAGE, and my biggest argument against those (80's Greats mentioned before) would be one word........compubox !! I'm sorry, and I have ZERO intentions on degrading the names of Hearns, and even Leonard for that matter, but compubox won't let you win a round with 6 or 7 good punches and your name. Unless you landed some very powerful shots, clear and evident to the judges, I truly believe Floyd vs. Hearns and Floyd vs. Leonard.... would produce compubox stats of nearly 2-1 in punches landed. Sorry if anyone disagrees, and if you do, I certainally respect and difference of opinon on this, but I've seen those guys fight, and I've seen Mayweather fight, and I stand firm on my opinion.
Much respect to all that post on here, as I enjoy reading the posts. Just my take !! I gotta put that shithead somewhere in the top 5. But remember, thats a greenhorn top 5 !! GL to all bettors. Remember, if you take nothing else from this "hot air", remember, Floyd always comes to fight, he will be prepared, and his style is "tailor made" for an aging puncher (see Arturro Gatti)...Maybe the juice will come down a little, but as it stands - Floyd To Win = 16.5% R.O.I........and that my friends, is what keeps us plugging along in the wagering world....
