The real question is whether Mayweather can STOP Ortiz @ +220. Possible corner stoppage if the young lion is receiving th punishment of a lifetime? Just can't see Ortiz's people allow him to go a full 12 rounds if he's clearly behind on the cards...It's his first real tough fight and there is NO DOUBT that Victor will be fighting another Wold Championship fight within the year

I just don't get it. I must be missing something. When is the last time that Mayweather 'punished' someone? Are we expecting Ortiz to get busted up and cut and swollen? Really? Maybe I'm not looking at this fight the right way or something.

Danno I am playing Mayweather KO. Always a risk with Floyd. The reason being I think Ortiz comes to fight and not survive. It's Mexican independence day and I think he goes out on his shield. I think Floyd will counter him all night long (ala Pacquaio v Cotto) and Ortiz gets pulled late in the fight. I just don't see Ortiz doing a Survival Shane Mosley type fight.

Ortiz has shown a history to go down against much weaker opposition. There should be at least 1 or two flash knockdowns. The one that knocks you down is usually the one you don't see coming.

Floyd all the way, UNDER 11.5 at +160 is a nice payout!
Ortiz is a guy who does have some skill, but when he throws power shots man he leaves himself WIDE OPEN, maybe the reason he gets dropped a lot.
You cannot fight like this against Floyd, he will pick you apart and quickly at that because of Ortiz's aggressive style.
Ortiz reminds me of Juan Diaz, he doesn't know how to hold, too much pride to just survive and winds up getting knocked out.
Remember ORTIZ is a GUY WHO QUIT "I should not be taking shots like this I'm young"- Remember that when you wager on him.
This may be Floyds easiest payday since Arturo Gatti (R.I.P)!
Floyd will stay in the pocket for short periods, get a feel for Ortiz once he sees he can easily turn Ortiz he will punish him... he will go for it.
Can't see this fight going the distance, Ortiz needs a KO to win and that has to come early, otherwise it's Floyd with a TKO by round 8- or so.
Just in case lightning does strike and Ortiz nails him.. the fight will be over also and the UNDER 11.5 COVERS.
I know it's hard to imagine Floyd stopping someone especially a BIGGER GUY like Ortiz, but man Ortiz when he gets hit on the button he goes down, he comes back looking for a KO as soon as HE gets knocked down...
Floyd will just abuse him until he finally gets Ortiz going backward.. and once that happens FIGHT OVER.
Good luck to everyone, I'm going with UNDER 11.5 +160

AND... does Mayweather hit anywhere near as hard as Maidana?
Maidana made a guy quit, so he will against Mayweather too?
Danno I don't think that Floyd has that one punch knockout like Maidana. I see this fight going very similar to the Mayweather v Hatton fight. Hatton when he fought Mayweather was a superior fighter then Ortiz is now. I agree with everythiing Rich said above. Ortiz leaves himself too open too often and Floyd will murder those kind of mistakes. I think Mayweather operates on a different planet then Ortiz and either way this will be a one sided demolition. The only question for me in this fight, is can Ortiz reach the final bell. He probably will, but I have to play the value and the value here is Mayweather +200 KO/TKO.

The guy was always a glorified club fighter. Overhyped because he had a loyal following. Taking Pac over him still ranks as one of the easiest bets of my life!

Hatton was not the same fighter when he fought Pacquaio so that is a ridiculous point. I too made a truck load on Hatton against Floyd and Pacman. It was clear Hatton was not in their league. I think Hatton is a lot better then a glorified club fighter (he gave Floyd all he could handle for 6 rounds). Ortiz would NEVER beat a Kostya Tszyu. Hatton was unreal that night he beat Tszyu. The best Ricky Hatton would easily beat the best Ortiz. He would be sucking Hatton right hands all night long.
Anyone who thinks Ortiz would beat Hatton @140 literally haven't a clue about boxing..Do a search of my boxing picks. I know boxing. Ortiz is drastically over matched tomorrow night..

don't overthink this one guys... it will go the same way as all recent mayweather fights (with the exception of the Hatton KO)... Mayweather in a 12 round lopsided decision.

LOL at people betting the under in this fight. Thats like calling for a Hopkins win by KO. Use your brains, this is a Floyd fight. Defense first, second, third. He doesnt take chances - ever. Not saying the under is impossible but barring a cut it's highly unlikely. The 2 guys hes stopped in the last 7 yrs were runt midgets Sharmba Mitchell and Ricky Hatton. Hatton fought 2 fights at 147 in his career - Floyd and Collazo and looked horrible in both, not a coincidence, dude was a lightweight fighter. That KO of Hatton means nothing, Ortiz is a big welter who has faced bigger punchers and more aggressive guys than Floyd.
Floyd by any decision -130 is the play. Dont overthink it, just do it. If you must have a hedge play on Floyd in Rd 10-12 at +950.

of all of floyds talent perhaps his strongest is his selection of fighters,,he picks these guys he fights for a reason--like Rich's thinking but agree with Danno also, Floyd picks this guy apart for 12 rounds and wins by UD

I agree on the overthinking part, Floyd only fight guys he can beat not anyone that can give him problems we all know that people c'mon. He is one of those guys that wants to say he went undefeated in his career even though it is fighting subpar opposition. It's like a MLB saying they are super world champs becasue they beat a bunch of softball beer league teams. C"MON
PEACE!

So we mostly agree Floyd is going to pick apart Ortiz, only question is will Floyd actually go for the KO when his dna is to cruise.
My thinking is not based on FLOYD, it's based on ORTIZ, being SO OPEN to HIT, AGGRESSIVE, people have to see a good chance at a possible stoppage... not like Ortiz's CHIN is sturdy, I question his heart and Stamina.
Ortiz is so easy to hit on the button that Floyd doesn't have to do much to drop him, or HURT HIM.
Remember Ortiz when he gets hit or hurt, first instinct is to BRAWL-
Floyd will not be there to slug he will just counter Ortiz until Ortiz tires enough where ref stops it, he quits, corner stops it... or Floyd Finally throws enough punches the misery ends.
Let's be honest after the Maidana fight his career was over, Ortiz is on a FREE pay day, just like all the other opponents Floyd has chosen since he moved up to 147.
Ortiz was thrown in TOO quickly when he was brought up, he's not polished enough to win in a fight of this magnitude.
I can definitely see why some will pick Floyd by decision, but to those who are look at why some are betting under or Floyd by KO, it's not non-sense it's a style match up and after a 15 month Layoff again this is the PERFECT opponent for Floyd.
Good luck to everyone, regardless of your pick!

Berto is not a smart fighter.. he head hunts and goes for the big punch every fight. Berto could have easily came out the victor in that fight if he worked the jab a little and picked his shots instead of swinging for the fences.
Floyd will dance circles around this kid tonight. GL if you're on Ortiz you will surely need it

This is my opinion guys, Since they been saying that now there is kinda of an agreement if Mayweather and Pacquio win there tune up fight that next year they will finally agree on a almost for sure fight no matter what. That explains the high odds for potential next year bought. Also for all you guys saying Ortiz is going to get beat up is b.s guy is a fighter and someone said he is a quiter... In that fight he lost he seems lost confused or im not sure what it was. But i got to say right now guy is well knowned now. And if you didnt see his fight against Andre Berto you should look it up. Even after he got knock down guy kept pressuring and coming forward to Berto. He was like a machine. So good luck to all of you on the bets. If i put any money it will be that this is going to the distance decision. All of Floyd fights is hit and dont get hit so he runs all around. 12 rounds Floyd wins.

if you fight not to get ko'd(clottey/paq,mosely/paq&may,haye/wk)then you probably wont get kod.
ortiz is coming to fight and like a true mexican(arreola) he will give everything he has in the ring and will receive any amount of punishment to do so.
nice post for the rookies, mack.

i had pbf/mosely over and thought that pbf could have ko'd mosely if he wanted to, which he didnt. difference between mosely and ortiz is ortiz is going to bring it the entire fight which can leave him open to counters and continued punishment something that mosely elected not to do by going into survival mode.
oritz was also badly cut against maidana.
ortiz is not afraid of going out on his shield and on mexican independence day weekend i think that he will be honored to do so.
caliente.com.mx is offering individual rounds 9-12 at 66-1 and round 8 at 50-1, esentially 12-1 odds.
