I know someone posted a similar thread but I can't seem to find it. Anyway, any thoughts on this fight? Inputs are appreciated.
Personally, I'm leaning and rooting for a big De La Hoya win. It's seldom that you see the Golden Boy as an underdog and looking at his training, I say he's beginning to get his form back.
Cheers!!!

I hope everyone else has that reasoning so I can get a better line on PBF

One of the biggest things to consider, at least in my opinion for this fight is:
1) Is De La Hoya really that motivated? Sure, they are promoting the hell out of this fight, and the whole De La Hoya 24/7 on HBO makes De La Hoya out to look like this is the biggest fight in his life..
2) Why fight when he can promote? Isn't his "legacy" already a given in the sport of boxing?
3) The fight is on Cinco De Mayo...coincidence? I think not..Cinco De Mayo = $$$$$$
4) Mayweather isn't stupid. Ghetto wanna be thug; yes. But stupid; no. When was the last time Mayweather looked like he had a chance in losing a fight? He is by far, without a doubt, the best fighter in the world, and adding on 7 pounds isn't going to make a big difference when fighting De La Hoya..
5) I expect De La Hoya to be a near faovrite come fight time. If you like Mayweather, wait until the night before or even morning of the fight.
6) Re-mtach scenario always lingers in the back of mind when playing a "super fight." Always take this into consideration when capping.
Obviously, I like Floyd. Gonna sit back and watch the odds drop before I play.

That 24/7 thing on HBO is great. . . it gives me something to laugh at, and I think it makes people see DLH training, PBF goofing off, hate PBF, and end up betting on DLH just because they didn't like Mayweather.
I'd love to catch it at -140 or lower. . .

Agree on pretty much all points. On the above point though, HBO loves to use this marketing tactic with DLH over the past few years having done so for Yory Boy Campas and last year with Mayorga, so it's not the first time.

I'd love to see De La Hoya win over that stupid Mayweather who shows no class. What's up with bringing chicken to the table, and mocking De La Hoya while he was speaking like a 2 year old dying to get attention. So sad.. De La Hoya please knock this scum out.

Let me start by saying that Oscar is and has been my favorite fighter since 1995. He gave boxing the shot in the arm that it needed when there was no talent in the heavyweight division and the sport was becoming
unmarketable. IMO, even if you don't like him, you gotta respect him! He's done alot for the Sport.
As for the fight, it's a bad matchup for Oscar, but you gotta hand it to him, he has fought everybody. Even the B Hop fight ( where he had no chance), he took on the biggest challenge of his life.
You've probably heard the phrase "styles make fights" Well, don't be disappointed when this one turns out to be an uneventful dud!!! I say this b/c the fight only has two directions to go..........Oscar either catches PBF w/ the big Left early (nighty night, if this happens) OR more likely, PBF uses his hand speed advantage and incredible defense like he has in every fight since moving up from 140 (jr. welterweight). Gatti, Judah, and Baldomir all took punishment b/c they were hit so frequently and couldn't get a shot off ( Judah got a couple good shots in) and i see Oscar having the same problem. Bottomline is PBF won't stand toe to toe with Oscar and let it go!!. He'd be crazy to turn it into a fight. If he boxes him, piles up the points and stays out of the corners he can't lose, IMO. And if he pot shots and dances like I think he will against the bigger stronger man, the fight will be boring to the average viewer. There's my 2 cents

What an incredible advantage it was for Oscar to have Sugar Shane in training camp ( he is the master at mimicing other fighters) and IMO is the only fighter at 147 or 154 that could present PBF with a hand speed challenge. In fact, if PBF wins, don't believe all of the retirement shit.......... Mosely vs Mayweather (spring of 2008) MARK MY WORDS!!!! There's your "styles makes fights" fight of the decade.
That one could rival the Morales / Pacquaio trilogy

I'd also like to add:

I have it in a posted parlay, but if I would have known that you were thinking about playing it than I might have reconsidered.
JK, -260 is not a bad price on this over and in reality I think it should have been set around -400.
Floyd has never been stopped (of course), is fighting above his ideal weight (doesn't have the pop above 140), and has touched the canvas once in his career due to a hand injury. Oscar has hit the canvas 4 times, was stopped once (I still think that he didn't want anymore of B-Hop so he packed it in), and north of 147 his left hook hasn't been what it was. Eape pointed it out first a few weeks ago in another thread, but I agree with him that it may be the best play on the board for this fight.
To be honest with you I have been hesitant to take any action on this fight, but I do have Mayweather in a parlay along and the over in another. I kind of just want to enjoy the biggest event boxing has had in a while for what it is.

I agree with you about wanting to enjoy the biggest event boxing has had in awhile!
Thanks for responding, I think -260 is a good value like you said and I'm surprised it's not -400 or more. Do you think it means something that it is only at -260?

I was thinking the exact same thing. The exact thought was "I sure hope people see how big of a jerk PBF is, and because of it, bet on chicken de la hoya." This ones a no brainer in my mind. -$140 would be sexy

I read a preview for this fight last week, somewhere on eastsideboxing.com. One of the best previews I've ever read. The dude writing it basically laid it out this way.........that even if ODLH did land a bigLeft & KD FMayJr, he no longer has the Power at this Weight or at this Age to ice FMJr. w/ 1 punch. & that's even if that 1 major shot does find its way home. So at worst FMayJr. might get buzzed, but then really get up on his bicycle on his way to a victory. At best he wins 8-4, or thereabouts. Only viable chance I see for ODLH to win is for FMayJr. to break at least 1 hand, & it would take 2 breaks b4 the 1/2 way point to be truly sure.

I perssonaly think DLH is a better figther far along than PBF.
Anyone have think about a DRAW. It's now like +1200 and it is a chance this figth, if it goes to 12, it ends on a draw, so everybody waits and wants a more expensive rematch.
I'm betting hard for DLH, and covering with a draw bet. No chance for PBF.

Everyones talking bout the left hook on Oscar I think his biggest punch will be his long left jab Nulifying the speed of Pretty Boy.PBF looked like a dumb ass throwing 100s @ the Camera while they showed Golden Boys BANK. NOT A BANK ROLL BUT A FUCKING BANK

3) The fight is on Cinco De Mayo...coincidence? I think not..Cinco De Mayo = $$$$$$

Amen to that. I'm gonna let every Mexican bet this down and then I'm gonna UNLOAD on Mayweather. It's -185 right now and I want to hti it but it ain't going worse than that.

I told you 10 months ago I was waiting for this match-up. This is a great spot for Floyd to finally get beat. Making him a nearly 3-1 favorite at this weight is ludicrous IMO. Ask yourself this question? Can you see Floyd KO ing Oscar? I can't. The only way he can win is to run around the ring and try to pot shot DeLaHoya. That will only piss the fans and judges off and make it very unlikely he wins a decision on the scorecards. Can you see Oscar Ko ing Floyd? Why not. He's the Much harder puncher at 154 and we've seen Floyd shook up by smaller and less talented fighters. Who is the more experienced BIG FIGHT boxer? Oscar has been there many times before and will not be rattled by the crazy atmosphere at fight time. I think a lot of people are going to be surprised with how convincingly Oscar handles Floyd come May 5th. I made a HUGE bet on him at + 220 but I would take him even if I had to settle for a much lower price.See you at the Winners Circle come May 6th.
