Maybe it's me,I'm not criticizing anyone, but what was the point of the post. This was from October, than yesterday my text was quoted and followed by "42 up 42 down. where the **** do you think that came from?" Was this just a continuation from another thread using this old post as an example to state an opinion? Anyone that knows why or if there is another post that led to re-open this thread please let me know as it may make more sense to me. Otherwise, since it is re-opened, I will oblige and post my opinion.


 It's not like the ref was talking to Ortiz. They hugged. Took a point away, and Ortiz again reached out and tapped his left glove to Mayweather. Then the action was to begin, again a third apology and second hug Ortiz did. How many times did he want to HUG? Mayweather acknowledged the first one, the tap... C'mon now, it was fight time or hugs again. Mayweather tagged him. Ortiz was totally conscious and didn't even appeal or complain. He remembered the Maidana beating he took and knew it was going that way, but Mayweather was gonna take his time and pick him apart to shreds!
I remember getting slack for telling walktheline it was not a live underdog, so the odds were irrelevant in a bout when you think a fighter has the very smallest chances to win, and only by (hypothetical) if Mayweather slipped, injured his knee where he couldn't walk and had to call a stoppage. Beyond that I wasn't buying the young hungry toughest opponent Mayweather was facing. I remember even you piped in, but to me I saw nothing in Ortiz to warrant him any chance to win (yes, everyone has a chance, but it would take extra-ordinary circumstances to have an upset).

pbf's two wins in three years were against a

1) 36-year-old career lightweight(jmm) moving up to 144 and;

2) a fight with an admitted PED user(mosely) who was now under stringent olympic testing.

both of these pbf wins were flawed and one could easily make a case that ortiz was a live dog for these reasons.

now for the last time, please stop ragging on walktheline and his pick. and for the last time, i had pbf-260(ortiz) placed in mexico and was simply justifying walktheline's reasoning, what any good handicapper will do.

he, as well as almost all of us here, know how to handicap fight and dont need to be told how to do so.

now was that any more evident in the recent alexander/maidana fight?

 

I wasn't ragging. I just said I was confused regarding the point of the post. You keep re-stating the same thing bring up his name. Yes, previous to the Floyd-Victor fight I called him out.
That was 6 months ago, why do you feel the need to try and instigate an issue that has been done for 6 months?

Your original quote said "my experience is that when a fighter moves up in weight, speed and technique are affected less than power." I think that is handicapping advice...  I still been searching the internet for how technique with added weight (7 lbs) effects a fighter.
You also said play the draw as a hedge. More advice, and with the vigs so high that is a terrible play with a very large -EV! I Had one harsh disagreement with walktheline. You told walktheline as an experienced handicapper you should know that any close decision fight preceeding a huge money fight(Pac/PBF) will always go where the money is. I actually complimented several times but you don't keep repeating that!!!
Then, your statement you made, I clearly read, and when I asked you about it, you then altered it AGAIN (like the Trivia) and made it a two person theory.
I still am waiting how a fighter's technique is effected when he gain 7lbs? How does that play a role? Maybe if they were 70 years old and arthritis was setting in and they altered their stance, but ages 25 and 28 are very young.

Alexander was more athletic to begin with and a better boxer with better technique. Maidana was a puncher with not enough foot movement and lacked technique. Nothing changed... what was evident?

You offered a challenge and then DISPUTED IT, NOT ME. I never asked for one, but you wanted to prove your point because you felt no fighter had achieved what you stated specifically.

you started an entire post ridiculing me on my premise that power is generally more affected than speed or technique when moving up in weight when i pickked devon over maidana.

pbf's defensive technique of the shoulder roll in all likelihood would do him no good at the weight of 160( i still think this technique will be successful at 154 because the current competition is so weak) and higher because the fighters would simply maul him, muscle him and walk him down.

as for instigating an issue, you just mentioned today how walktheline was wrong on his ortiz prediction, that being instigating of itself and probably the fifth or sixth time you have done so.

i am done arguing with you as it is pretty obvious that is what you enjoy here, to be the teacher and for us to be the students.

By the way, real fighters are more concerned with their speed whether it's weight or age. Usually with speed comes the power. Technique is totally the same when you gain 5 lbs. LOL - POSER!
