Mayweather v Pacquaio My Take

Firstly, I would like to apologise to covers followers about my Diaz pick. Its the first time in a longtime I lost a big bet and I promise in future to tone down the arrogance. I guess I needed that loss to get my head back into normal shape..For people that lost tailing me I sincerely apologise. Just goes to show no bet is ever a certainity, no matter who much study you put into it or how much you believe in yourself.

Anyway to the matter at hand. I am quite frankly surprised and amazed how many negative comments are coming about Manny Pacquaio about the randon drug testing on every boxing forum. It seems Mayweather has achieved exactly what he wanted..He gets out of fighting Manny Pacquaio and has the boxing community split 50/50 in doing so.

Mayweather apparently balked at a compromise over the stringent drug-testing requirements his camp insisted upon. I completely agree with Bob Arum who said. I personally do not believe Manny Pacquaio has ever taken PED (this of course can be argued). I believe his reasons to avoid giving blood are valid. This is arguably the biggest fight outside the heavweight division in history (financially anyway). Manny Pacquaio wants to be 100% physically and mentally ready on the night with no distractions.

Do you think Floyd will ask Paulie Mallinaggi to go through such procedures?! He will in his $%$%$%%. This fight should have been fought under standard Nevada state commision laws, just like every other fight in Vegas history.

Floyd has managed to avoid a fight he never wanted and managed to split the boxing community while doing so. Great job Floyd. Just what boxing needs. Another big fight, the biggest fight out there NOT to happen. Floyd is a great boxer, but a great Fighter he will NEVER be..

Paulie Mallinaggi hasn't moved up one division and has the ko power of Jerry the mouse so that argument is moot

Pac-Man has moved up from 106? so it makes more sense that they suspect him more than most

As far as being ready he will be 100% physically ready even after the test but as far as mentally that's his own problem and happens to all athletes

I don't know if Manny has taken any PED's but the fact that he refuses to take the test is very alarming when his opponent is willing to take the same test, It's just the fact of the matter no matter what anyones says now....

The argument about drug cheats will go on forever. Did Lance Armstrong take drugs, Has Usain Bolt taken drugs to make him run such ridiculous times. Has Manny Pacquaio taken drugs to help him move so sucessfully up the ranks?

I would be amazed if all the above are 100% clean and always have been. So a debate about PED's will never be resolved. I think Pacman is clean but thats just my opinion. I never thought he would be the type to cheat on his wife so I mean who ever knows...

I think Pacmans offer of doing all required tests 21 Days before the fight and tests immediately after the fight is more then acceptable!

Its clear as hell Mayweather does NOT want this fight!

 

come on Usain is under the Olympic Testing System and Lance Armstrong was for 3 years the most tested man on the planet...

Floyd does look to be ducking the fight but if Manny is sooo anxious to show Mayweather what's really going on then sign the contract and beat him. Pac-Man is making weak mental excuses about being drained of energy when they're taking very minimal amounts of blood and Floyd is doing it at the same time

I hope that Pacquaio is not on PED's and never had any reason to believe he was but the dodging of testing through out the training period is so far the ultimate cause of the fight being canceled Not Floyd saying he'd rather fight someone else, for all we know Floyd is pissing his pants hoping that Pacquiao will not agree to the drugtest but maybe Pacquiao won't agree b/c he'll be @ a disadvantage we don't know about...

All is speculation but one thing I know is that if Pacquiao doesn't agree to this testing his reputation will be tarnished to some, this fight won't happen and that stupid almost unwinable lawsuit filed against Mayweather will be dismissed (which it will be more than likely without).

Here is my take on this failed fight.

As i have said in the topic "Why I hate Mayweather", this is a marketing ploy by Team Mayweather and Team Pacquaio. This my opinion....... this will occur either late this year or the beginning of next year. WHY......timing.

1) If this fight is estimated to generate 200 million and the fight date is March 13..... there is little time to do the big promotion. What happens if a fall date with promotional tour, law suits, more ESPN interviews, and blog sites.

a) No location set. Is the MGM the best possible site..... there are stadiums with 100K capacity????

b) No time for the big promotional tours. Let the lawsuits, the interviews, the blog sites, the families, the promoters, the trainers and SSM (if he wins).....be the mouthpiece for this fight.

c) Manny needs time campaign. He needs to build anticipation for this fight in the Eastern Hemisphere.......National pride.....Anti-American sentiment, .........PPV revenue for the best fight in history for a newly elected Congressman.

 

2) We all know that PFM wants 2 things from boxing. Money and undefeated status (FAME)......then more Money......He of all people is not going to coming out of retirement with the IRS on his back to take fights for 6 million when he could get 40 million of off one fight.

Think about what has transpired in the last month and apply my statements # 1 & 2.

If MP and FM take the other fights and win.......coupled with a SSM victory. What will have occurred is the "Perfect Storm".

1) PFM beats PM.....a fast, but not powerful jr. welter...... who also beat Juan D. (Juan D. was kicking JJM around the ring until he got caught).......Low payday for PFM......but he needs to fight someone quick head movement  and super quick hand speed. He is also a low risk competitor.

2) MP beats YF..... he wins his 8th world title...... he has time to train at 85% versus having to train at 110% for PFM. Most importantly he can campaign for the elections in his country. Because if he had to face PFM (win, lose or draw) it would take alot out him.  A loss to PFM right before elections could be a confidence killer.

3) SSM beats AB.... he would then be a 2 title holder in the division.......he becomes the wild card...... he is now in line for the mega fight......vs PFM......because most people think he has the best shot to beat PFM.

4) MP could not fight SSM until the fall......but PFM could make this fight happen in the summer.

The teams are using the media outlets to fuel peoples interest in this mega fight. You have so many different emotions and passion being spewed into this anticipated fight that the public cannot get enough.

Wait and see.....if SSM wins his fight.....he will push the publics feeding fenzy.

These guys are not stupid.....they no that the money is not going anywhere........All they will do is keep "throw pot shots" at each other and ESPN and the blog site will push this fight from a 200 million fight to well over 300 million (including Europe and Asia).

This a marketing ploy by 2 teams that are publicity hounds......the are very, very business savy.

the public is turned off.............one of the guys could get upset in the next fight or suffer a career ending injury in training or a fight........ one of the trainers could die or fall sick..........ANYTHING can happen

Yeah, a fair bit of banging on Manny's refusal to test olympic style because they see it as a very easy step for him to do.

They don't all take into consideration the element of dignity.

Consider if Floyd were offered big money to star in a KFC commercial where he says "Mmm...the best chicken in town"
Now, he wouldn't do it because that would be highlighting and seeming to admit, in part, that he is, possibly, a coward who won't fight same size fighters.

Now if Manny concedes to a special testing proceedure that other boxers do not have to do, doesn't that appear to highlight or admit to something?

The argument of PED's yes is MOOT (from the PAST).

BUT we can know if a guy is using by performing Olympic Style  Drug testing.

Floyd has already stated the rest of his fights will require (Olympic Style Blood Testing). (I read this on Yahoo so it's a legit source).


Again the debate of whether past athletes used PEDS is moot, you cannot go back in time. You can however testing "now" so this way NO one is cheating.

There are many people who don't seem like the "type" that will do something it's what makes life so intriguing.

Mosley was a GYM rat he would seem like the most UNLIKELY guy to use PEDS but guess what he admitted to it.. but only AFTER WARD.

So god forbid something happens to a boxer while another guy is using, does he get to sue the opponent? I mean what course of repercussion    have any PED users received?

This is the only fair way for BOTH fighters to come into the ring at least equal on a "Blood Level".

I want a fight to be decided by the better man, but the guy who chose the easier route.

Do we know if Manny used? NO, we don't have a way to go back in time, but we can use current testing.

Remember the Vegas testing laws are a joke, random urine testing, sure everyone will give that as it only shows in blood and during a certain time.

Mosley, Vargas, and a few others got caught using... yet they FOUGHT in the ring endangering the welfare of another fighter and that is unacceptable.

God forbid a guy gets brain damage from a beating taken by this PEDS,  what will "future testing do"? In America, tragedy has to happen, be it children being abused, people being shot, murders, you name it before a  new "Law is introduced".

I believe the new wave of boxing and MMA, and a few others sports to adopt Mandatory Olympic Style Testing.

Isn't is odd, "Olympic Style" which is for Amateurs (usually) do BETTER testing than the PROS. One would think it would be the opposite.

Both fighters, all people involved be it cycling.. or whatever.are ALL subjected to random Olympic Style Testing- I believe this is the ONLY way.

Any other way encourages cheating.. with NO consequences.

Look at what Margarito TRIED to do, and he only got 1 year, what he attempted to do was worse than using a loaded GUN.

Sorry for the ramble but I think it's time they changed this testing, if Amateurs have to endure it for "no money". The pros making millions upon millions should be MANDATORY tested without question.

As PEDS get better (at being undetected) the law will change with it, and allow them to adjust the laws to accommodate the newer cheating drugs being used.

Rich my reply is simple. Ok get this testing in and have the boxing organisations/comissions/boxers etc etc agree to it BUT

Why couldn't Floyd just fight to standard boxing rules! Pacman has never been found guilty. This crap is all in Floyd's head. Just because he could never do what Pacman did doesn't mean it cant be done. Roach and Pacman swear they have never cheated, they have never been caught for anything. Sorry thats enough for me until a new style testing comes in.

Mack I agree the commissions  need to change the rules, that's the thing.. here in America for change to happen something tragic has to happen it's always been this way.

After a tragedy they fix the problem quickly. Only AFTER the event occurs (whatever it may be).

Here in America almost every guy/woman who has done something special has been caught cheating, maybe not in your country.

Baseball home run records were broken by steroids, Marion Jones cried on TV saying she never used PEDS only years later to say she's lying and has to give up the medals.

Countless athletes even "sued" for defamation of character only to be found out there were LYING the whole time (Shane Mosley included).

People will swear on their Country, their Mother's Father's animals, to NOT get caught.

Manny may or may not be using, BUT here in America when a guy accomplishes something amazing we tend to be skeptical because well we've been ripped off before.

Maybe in Manny's Culture he wouldn't dare do that, but he fights in America and gets paid American $$$ so he has to realize people don't know his Native Country people know "Boxing" and "Money" and know almost every human being would do ANYTHING to WIN.

Mosley has LOST some of his speed, he was JUST as fast as Floyd, he isn't the same Mosley as he used to be.

But for US boxing fans that's good because Mosley at his peak was more of an Oscar/Floyd Hybrid now at an older age he goes toe to toe more often .. which is good for US.

MY pick would still be Floyd by Decision over Mosley, think about it Mosley and Oscar fought BOTH in their prime and it wasn't such an amazing fight..

I do believe you're right about one thing, the power does Mosley (on a fair playing ground) have the extra power.. over Floyd being the bigger guy.

People don't notice this but Floyd isn't that large    his natural weight is really like 135/140 tops. He only moved up to follow the "Money".

Remember I'm NOT a MayWeather FAN,so if he doesn't get Mosley in the ring.. (because of his actions) then I will come on here and say what most people feel which is Floyd cares more about going undefeated than boxing the best.

Remember it takes TWO to tango, Mosley agreed to Olympic style blood testing and a 60/40 purse(with pac-man) so this should be the same deal.

Let's see how this unravels. :) I hope we get a Mega-fight!

Manny's just really good. And because of that.. Mayweather's saying a lot of crap about pacquiao.. Mayweather's just scared.. Because he knows when he's inside the ring with pacquiao he won't be able to run anymore :) and as far as i know..Mayweather is the only boxer who accused manny pacquiao of using drugs..

He is a cheater why exactly? Because you said so. He has never been caught. He is Strenulously denied (along with Roach) over and over again that he has never cheated. I mean if he ever was caught that is Pacman and Roach careers over. Pacman has always come across as an honest man, and a man of god.

Until Mayweather opened his mouth no one said a word about pacman cheating. Truth is Mayweather never wanted the fight and this is the best way of making him look good, he had to take Mosely as there was literally no other fight out there for him.

Yes there should be Olympic style testing which all fighters musr adhere to and Floyd has a point about this but until there is Floyd can't make the rules himself. he is in the wrong here end of debate. And he alone is the reason we may never see the fight we all want to see..

Hilarious it's what I've been typing in "text" while he does it in video, very excellent piece.

They don't have to worry about Clottey they have another advantage .. Clottey is w/o his head trained, I believed denied a Visa... c'mon!

So for the first time in his life he is fighting w/o his head trainer.

His trainer also stated Clottey needs 4 MONTHS to get in condition and the fight is too soon.

I will say it again Pac-man after this fight is in a MUST fight Floyd situation... otherwise he has to retire.

NO  more excuses, Pac-man wanted NOTHING to do with Mosley.. maybe he will try to fight Mosley after Floyd beats him.. then say I beat him too.

Excellent piece, only one thing I don't agree on with the guy who made the Video, was he didn't give  Cotto enough respect he acknowledges that Cotto was damaged after the hand wrapping fight against Margarito.. but after that he just says "Damaged Goods".

While it may all well be true (I do agree Cotto was never the same since then and has only taken more beatings).  NO one knows what was inside those gloves.. I seriously think Cotto has some form of brain damage.. you can even see it in his talking... which was NOT evident before the Margarito fight.

So in all was a great piece as was all of his videos, even the one where the Philippine boxing experts said he lost to Marquez the second time lol!  His OWN people said he lost and his own people said he got the decision because he was more marketable.

Good to see the judge made the truth come out, and showed that Pac-man refused to negotiate and pulled out.

                                            

McNulty this is a good video but it does not expose Pacquaio as a cheat. Where the video is wrong is that, it claims the biggest the biggest vcitories of Manny Pacquaio's career were against Hatton, Dela Hoya and Cotto. This is simply not true. His biggest victories were against Barrera and Morales and to a lesser extent Marquez (lot of debate there so will leave that be). 2 fighters Barerra and Morales who are in the top 50 greatest fighters of all time (Cotto, DeLa Hoya and Hatton arent within an asses roar of the top 50. Morales was probably past his best the 2nd and 3rd time but not the first and Manny fought him. I would rate Morlaes at his peak, which he was when he first fought pacman a better fighter then Pacman at his best. There first fight is as good an indicator as you will get. Barrera was a bad foe for Morales. he fought too much with his heart and not his head in those fights. They were well matched but for me Morales was better.

I did not need to see this video to know Hatton, Dela Hoya and Cotto were past there best. But you can't seriously tell me Mayweathers resume is better then Pacquaio's! Mayweather has never fought anyone in the same league as Barrera and Morales. Juan Manuel Marquez was 14 pounds too heavy and 4 years past his prime when he fought money yet there is no mention of that in the video.

Pacquaio was right to fight a washed up Cotto before Mosley. He wasn't sure if he could take the power of a full Welter. Now he knows he can (hence the fight with Clottley is at 147 and not 145). You don't just send Pacquaio like a lamb to the slaughter against a dangerous opponent like Mosley without testing the water first. That would be just stupid. Roach is a clever man.

Bottom Line I hope Mosley beats Money for a number of reasons but the main one being Mosley and Pacquaio will happen at 147 if they both win. They won't make stupid demands of each other.

I agree that Pacman and his team were very careful of picking there last 4 fights but I didn't see them come up with new rules outside the Nevada State Commision just because there is a chance their opponent might be cheating (even though there is no proof whatsoever that this is the case).
