Under 8.5 rounds -135

Mayorga has taken too much punishment and his weakness is body punches. It so happens that that's what Cotto does best. I see this fight ending before the 6th round.

Cotto is brutal with the body attack.

Under sounds great Frank as Cotto can get taken out just as well   GL

Mayorga has no shot vs Cotto. That's why bodog is offering cotto at an amazing -1000. But seriously Mayorga was a beast at 147 but I think over the years he's taken too much punishment. Trinidad/De La Hoya/Mosley all put a beating on Mayorga.

cotto has taken huge amounts of punishment as well, watch the ricardo torres, corley, margarito and pacquiao fights, and although mayorga is older at 37, I would say that he is the fresher fighter here, to me cotto's confidence is gone, as well as the fire that once made him a very good fighter, he fights because it it all he knows, cotto is finished, mayorga will be a fighter until the grave, weather in the ring or on the streets and that's why I will pick the upset here,add to the fact that mayorga is a huge  jr middleweight, his size, strength and fighting spirit will get him the win against a fighter who I beleive will fold when the going gets tough. mayorga by tko.

LRM I read all your posts, but you really think Cotto is shot?

His only losses were to multi-division champ (Margarto) and the best fighter Pound 4 Pound (Pacquaio).   Yeah he got KOed late in both those loses, but Mayorga isn't the same fighter when he was kicking Vernon Forrest's ass like 10 years ago.  Take a close look at Mayorga's past performances in World Title fights.  He isn't exactly riding a winning streak.

Cotto looked damn good in his last fight (granted Foreman has feathers as fists) but to call him shot is a bit of an exaggeration.

Also, Mayorga's constant legal issues in Nicaragua, his lack of training, and his overall relationship with his promoter Don King leads me to believe this might be the last we see of Mayorga.  King had an injunction placed to prevent Mayorga from fighting in an MMA fight (which in other words, prevented him from making money).  You think Don King gives a shit about his "brawler" with whom he only has under contract with for this last fight?

He's throwing him to Top Rank and adding a high profile name to Cotto's resume.

That Hatton kid has a better shot at beating Saul Alvarez than Mayorga does of beating Cotto    IMO

     don king is a scum bag and everyone knows it, but you have to remember that he took mayorga off the streets and made him a millionaire, mayorga probly would not of accomplished anything without him, king is as close to mayorga as he has been with any fighter since felix trinidad, also carl king and mayorga seem to be pretty close as well, so I beleive that king does care for mayorga at least as much as a scum bag can.   and for the record in 25 years no one will even remember who the fuck saul alvarez is, he is a creation of hbo, looking for a new star and beleive me they are looking in the wrong place.

Cotto is obviously not at this best anymore but he has more years left then Mayorga. Mayorga barely even trains let alone has terrible habits like drinking/smoking outside of the ring. not saying cotto doesn't either but mayorga isn't doing himself any favors.

mayorga isn't the type of fighter like Margarito. He doesn't get stronger as the fight goes on. Its the complete opposite. Mayorga starts to get weaker and weaker from throwing those wild shots.

I've seen most of Cotto's fights. He was killing himself to make 140. He did take lots of punishment from Pacquiao/Margarito though.

And there is no way Mayorga is the freshest fighter here. He doesn't even train hard or take it seriously. And Mayorga isn't a huge 154er. You are just throwing money away betting on Mayorga.

  I am not betting on this fight, just voiceing an opinion and mayorga is a huge jr middleweight and will most likely out weigh cotto by 10lbs going into the ring, cotto is about 60 percent of what he used to be. once a fighter loses his heart for fighting, it's pretty much over, cotto quit against both margarito and pacquiao, and I beleive that he will do the same here, his fire is gone and like I said before, mayorga will be a fighter until the grave. desire is the most important thing in this game, mayorga has it. cotto no longer does. mayorga by tko

You have no clue what the hell your talking about. I think Cotto has been rejuvenated by Steward as his trainer now. Sure Cotto got beat by Margicheato, but damn how much punishment can one take getting hit with those loaded gloves. Lets see how Manny would do fighting Margicheato for 12 rounds with loaded gloves. I also believe Cotto made a mistake draining himself in weight to fight Manny. If Cotto fought Manny at 150 or even 147 i'd see a different fight.

Cotto vs. Mayorga will be promoted by Top Rank, in association with Cotto Promotions, Don King Productions, Tecate and MGM Grand, and produced and distributed live by SHOWTIME PPV®.

I think this is a mess of a fight and you can be sure the outcome will be shrouded by a conterversial moment. I think there are better fights out there to bet on...

Mayorga looked "decent" vs Mosley only because Mosley lacks Cotto's counterpunching skills and jab. Trust me Mayorga gets stopped. Cotto will play it safe early(JABS), kill the body, and eventually put a complete beatdown on Mayorga - guaranteed!

Some have said Cotto's heart isn't in it anymore. I don't think Mayorga has the heart to walk thru Cotto's punches Margarito style - not anymore.

I have no clue what I am Talking about, I know as much about boxing as anyone in the world, punk, I was one of the best amateurs in the world  and will soon be a proffesional. you don;t know what the hell your talking about, you think that the weight was the difference in the cotto vs pacquiao fight, your crazy, pacquiao is a legend, while cotto even at his best was a very good and not great fighter, manny is simply  much better than cotto, period and it's true that margarito most likely had loaded gloves against cotto, but he still quit and then in his next big fight he quit again, emanuel steward is one of the best to ever do it, they are trying to bring out the boxing skills that cotto used as an amateur, before he became more of a seek and destroy fighter, their is a reason for that, cotto has no heart left for going to war, this happends all of the time as fighters get older, trying to switch it up from the style that got them through the prime of their pro career, marco antonio barrera is the only one in recent memory who did it sucessfully, If mayorga can take cotto's left hook and makes it a war, I truly beleive that cotto will quit on his stool,

You can sure as hell make a lot of money if you actually believed Mayorga gets the KO..  or you could just donate your money to a local charity and let someone get some use out of it

I'm with Mack on this one, staying away from this.

This line is properly priced, only way Cotto loses is if he gets caught.

Under 8.5 would be my pick, if Cotto can't get Mayorga out of there, retirement is imminent.

I'm not saying the outcome would be different but why would Freddie roach set Cotto's weight limit at 145? If weight didn't matter why would Roach write in the contract with heavy penalties if Cotto was over 145 when they were fighting for a 147 pound belt. People don't do things for no reason.

It's the art of nagotiation, sugar ray robinson was the master, even if he was fighting a B or C level guy, he would make it so all of the advantages were to him, when you are the draw and fighters want to fight you, then they must fight according to your terms or go and fight someone else. alot of great fighters are great nagotiators too, it's not that they are scared that they will lose if they don't get their way, at least most of the time that's not the case, it's that why let the other man have any advantages ,if you can dictate the terms..   I am not saying it's 100 percent right, but it is the way it is
