Apparently surgery went accordingly. His positive attitude shows how a determined fighter like he was could throw punches for twelve rounds without resting a round. His latest statement I got from ESPN and here it is...
{Williams told Ringtv.com his message to his fans is, "I'm blessed.
"To
be conscious and alive and all of that," Williams said. "To know what's
going on. I've got a little spine injury, or whatever. But they're
working on that. But to be able to be breathing on my own ... I feel
real good and I love the support that I've been getting from my fans."}.

That shows that character of a warrior to not only say those things, but to believe them as well. He called the paralyzing injury... a little spine injury or whatever. Wow.

His attitude is almost unbelievable. I hope Paul is not in denial. Hopefully he sustains his great attitude during what will be a very difficult rehabilitation process.

first off, i love paul williams as a fighter. huge heart and no quit in him. having said that, this should teach all who think they can ride a bike as fast as they can with no problem, don't do it. as a life long rider, i can assure you, speeding is hard not to do on a bike but i have learned, you always get there in the end. good luck to paul and please, let's all be safe if you are on a bike.

vandjinc: nice post. my parents were 100% against bikes as a teenager, but once I turned 18 a co-worker was a life-long rider and told me a local community college did bike safety course as it taught you a lot about riding to even a veteran.

hey zouk. my dad damn near kicked my ass when he found out my grandparents bought me a bike. i just got my 6 year old his first 4-wheeler and he looks like a damn mummy with all the shit me and his mom have bought him safety wise. got to teach them that no matter how good they think they are, that bike will kick your ass in the end. if you ride, keep it wheels side down and trust me, you'll get to where you are going eventually.

He will be fine, even if he doesn't walk again. He does have a chance of walking again, so it is important to stay positive, that is the only way he'll be able to have any type of recovery. We all know he has one of the biggest hearts in boxing today, this will no different than other fight, Paul will not quit.

My dad said he'd break both my legs if I was on a bike(motor) when I was a teenager. I'd say he meant it, but it would be a last resort and maybe just a knee-cap (lol). My nephew is 7 and he has a BMX bike and so much equipment for a non-motorized vehicle (lol). I remember when we wore nothing and going down mountain side at over 30mph with the first new euro-bikes that were 14speed and up with the ultra thin tires. At 15 I had no fear doing that, then at 28 going 15mph down a hill on mountain bike with helmet and gear I was a little stunned thinking "I wonder what bones and how bad if I go thrown off right here"...then seconds later thinking "why didn't I think this at 15 when I was going more than twice the speed, no safety, and high risk blowing out a tire with racing wheels?"... When you are young you think you are invincible until you get in to a serious accident or fully realize the peril you are in at times. I remember they out-lawed 3-wheelers because they were known to tip and 4-wheelerz were just getting started!!!

SAD to hear what happened to Williams, but right now he still has HOPE (of walking).
Once reality sets in, I hope and pray he thinks the same way. I hope he recovers and can walk, boxing again.. is over but walking and maybe training... and commentating...with time.
Paul has made some decent money, anyone know if this guy is insured for medical?
This will be millions in surgery and treatment over the years, hope he is insured FULLY somehow!
Get well Paul!,

He appears intelligent so I'd say he had max liability for insurance coverage, possibly umbrella coverage and often special insurance for athletes should they get injured before turning pro or during their career. Soccer star Cristiano Ronaldo was fouled so often that Real Madrid insured his lower body for $153 million. Lloyd's of London almost takes any policy. A few years ago several athletes were denied coverage like: Johnny Damon The insurers say: Pending a CT scan and a detailed review of his eyes, Damon is uninsurable. Remember Kirby Puckett? (via ESPN Mag)

I forgot to list that body parts are insured like guitar player Jeff Back insured each finger for a million a piece. One the stranger policies is...:
Troy Polamalu in the amount insured for $1 Million,...for his HAIR! An NFL defensive player insuring his hair... now that's one for the books!
Celebrities do it, and I could see if a female celebrity model was insuring her hair, but not an NFL defensive player.
The reason these policies exist like David Beckham insured his legs for $70 million a few years back. The reason these exist is multiple reasons like doing a separate item adds more insurance to a capped policy, and many times under-writers for companies demand specifics for instance, if Beckham lost partial vision in an eye that put an end to his career prematurely and the coverage was general, that would be a huge claim and a major dispute. By claiming specifics it allows insurance companies more valid claims and less corruption.
