Internet problems have been the name of the game the last few days. I am glad to see after jumping getting back on-line that I am not the only one that thinks that Joe Cortez is out of his mind. If the Nevada commission doesn't do anything about him then they are just as much to blame. Everyone that follows boxing has a right to be mad whether you bet on Soto or not. Gotta say I laughed pretty hard when Fields got chopped down; classic example of the another joke "Great White Hope" protected fighter. Sure glad Santiago didn't stop Luevano now, because that Cortez fiasco would hurt even more. The Pac fight went as I expected, his speed was the biggest difference; the odds were wide for a reason.

I would think almost anyone would pay -140 over 1 rd in almost any fight that didn't include Mike Tyson in the late 80's. I would think the squares, and people looking to buy it back later would be the first action on a line like that. My BS meter went off in my head immediately. . . but I haven't looked into this thing at all, just saw the line and raised the question. Even worse - would you bet even money on an under 1 rd? I wouldn't no matter who it was, yet why did the line open that low?

I guess I use the term "sharp" more liberally than you. I consider anyone who attacks lines right when they go up to be somewhat of a gambling sharp, as they're obviously paying more attention to betting lines than whatever "real world" occupation they're supposedly engaged in. Usually, the line movement gets caused by people maxing out 5dimes' relatively low limits, and that's who I'm referring to...I use 5dimes and Bodog currently. I have used 5dimes and sportsbook in conjunction in the past, but I like Bodog more than SB for several reasons: (1) Bodog immediately grades wagers, while SB sometimes lets them slide for several days because they're unprofessional, (2) Bodog's boxing lines move much more slowly than 5D, so, for example, you could've gotten the Soto under at +160 hours after it was at +110 at 5dimes, (3) Bodog sometimes misposts their lines when they copy them, and they've always honored these wagers in the past, and (4) on rare occasions, Bodog forgets to take down lines after a fight has been completed, offering an opportunity for easy money. Also, Bodog has been good about paying out lately. The props and juice (-120 on each side of an even match) suck at Bodog, but usually the side I want to bet has better odds there than at 5D. I usually make my sides and totals wagers at Bodog, while I make outcome props bets on 5dimes. It's worked out pretty well.

When that becomes a -260/+220 thing, it's just annoying. Matchbook is the only place to play daily for bases as far as I'm concerned, and I bet 5Dimes every once in a while when I want to do an adjusted RL, Total, or Team total.

The best play would've been to take that under at +230 before the books moved the total to 3.5. Then again, that was a fishy line to put any money on, so I took a pass.

down. Torres was stupid for getting reckless, I have no doubt that he

.50 of a unit on Under 7.5 rounds (+225) in Trout-Tyson I took the under for a couple of reasons at those odds; first what I perceived to be a big talent gap based on pedigree and also the fact that Tyson has been down before to a guy who was 6-17. Well turns out the talent gap was definitely there, but Tyson has a decent set of whiskers. Trout landed a good many clean shots, he just didn't do any big time damage until the last.

That's true about the chin. A cautious fight plan will only work if Holt's going against someone who's a definitive step below in the speed department. I pegged Torres as being that guy (just as Arnaoutis was), but we may never know for sure. Even if there's a Torres-Holt III, we might not get a real answer because Torres could be damaged at this point.
