The odds I listed are about the best both ways. I've seen Mosley 11/2 many places, and Alvarez 1/9 at the same spots. Anyone feel Mosley is live here? I would not have guessed those odds to be so drastic. I felt Alvarez would come out a favorite, but that they would want more action on the fight, thus having odds lower for Alvarez (maybe as low as -450) to get action on the fight. It appears they only want people betting Mosley straight out. Does anyone else feel that these odds were slightly surprising (considering the fact they would want more action)? Mosley at age 40 has had a year off against his last match verse Manny, in which Mosley played survival instead of winning. Alvarez has some nice KO's against decent opposition, but Mosley's hand speed is much faster than what he has been up against. Whether Mosley can hurt him is not the major factor, as can Mosley's counter speed and experience allow him enough to get to decision and winning a few rounds enough for maybe a bad decision win for Mosley? I realize that they want Canelo to win and get more public exposure as he will become well known if he goes on to win, especially if he can stop Mosley for the first time in Mosley's career. Remember though, Mosley maybe have all disadvantages (except hand speed), but his resume of competition is tops among all fighters. His last 17 opponents (he also fought most at their very best): Raul Marquez (34-2) Jose Luis Cruz (33-0) David Estrada (18-1) Ricardo Mayorga Luis Collazo (27-2) Fernando Vargas (2 losses, Tito & Oscar) Sergio Mora (1 loss) Antonio Margarito (just beat undefeated Cotto) Vernon Forrest (undefeated) Oscar De La Hoya (1 loss SD to Tito) Ronald Wright (3 losses, 5 years without a loss) Miguel Cotto (undefeatead) Manny Pacquiao (Ranked #1 w/ Mayweather) Floyd Mayweather Jr (undeafeated & Ranked #1 w/ Pacquiao)
That is a fighter who fights everyone. If they did a ranking for past opposition difficulty (like BCS for NCAAFB), Mosley would lead the league! Now, times change and does he have enough left to cause the fight to go to the cards and possibly pull-out an upset (even if it was a terrible decision)?

Shane Mosley (+600) vs Canelo Alvarez (-900)

Last 17 bouts (he fought Vernon, Oscar, Fernando, and Winky all twice). Manny & Floyd (auto HOF) Winky (HOF likely) Oscar & Cotto (World Class - very good; and at the times they were prime) Vernon (RIP; WC- lost to Mayorga and Mora) Mora (under-rated) I didn't mention Molina, Leija, both undefeathed Shannon Taylor & Eduardo Morales. Mosley has brought it. That's why I have been so hard on Mayweather. I know early in his career he was more offensive and took more risks, but his cherry-picking fights has been upsetting to any boxing fan. He should have fought Cotto before Mosley. Even attempt a taller fighter like Williams or Margarito. Mayweather has the physical abilities, trained the very best, has a natural instinct and has been involved his entire life with boxing. The man calls himself "Money", and as a business man he does well to pick his fights that are so unfair, but he sells it. Funny though, he had to fight to pay the IRS without having to pawn-off anything. I remember the news press asking him about Oscar paying his IRS bill, and he flipped stating it's none of anyone's business, but on 24/7 he was showing his house explaining all the stuff you see he owns and is paid for, in a flaunting manner. Then he gets upset when called out. Oh well, that's how people get when they face reality and not their own world.

Shane is done. He has been cherry picked for Alvarez. People remember Sugar whooping Margercheato. Every great champion has one last hurrah. That was Shane's. The the drew with Sergio Mora is the real Shane Mosley now. Like Roy Jones Jnr, he doesn't know when to quit.
When the points line comes out that will be my play (alvarez). I think this could be close to a shutout...

Too steep for me... I stay away from heavy favs. Too much BS can make a fight end, or a DQ, etc... it has nothing to really do with the bout, but more the strange decision, headbutts, cuts, swelling, DQs, etc.. I think the same but I'll pass on the fight.

EricLinny: If Mosley can avoid pacquiao's offensive speed, what makes you think Alvarez can catch Mosley is he runs? I think Mosley will do survival mode and stop countering and tie-up after a few rounds.

Alvarez is not a puncher, but I'll be betting on him to stop Shane. Shane is totally done and Alvarez will work him to all night. He's relentless and will wear Shane out. If Shane goes the distance, I'll be shocked. Pac let him off the hook and took it easy on him. Canelo (who I believe is overrated) will not let him get a minute to breath.

Canelo isn't a puncher? The guy would probably be the biggest hitter at middleweight, right now. He's not nearly a finished product but he's very hard to fade at this point. Honestly, was there ever a fight you've seen him in and doubted him being superior from the second the bell rang?
This guy can be an absolute P4P and marketing machine. If anyone DOES beat him, one would have to imagine it would have been a HELL of a fight. Canelo is the future of anything above 154 for the next decade.
Just imagine how large the middleweight title fight between Chavez and Alvarez will be. It will happen sooner than later and it will make a mint. The apple cart won't be upset anytime soon.

What are the prop bets looking like for this fight? Alvarez keeps saying he'll be the first to KO Shane. Its possible and that's why I wanna see the lines. My non-gambling friends favor Canelo to win by KO but nobody on Canelo's resume matches the foot speed or experience of Mosley.

Im guessing sugar can somehow avoid the KO and perhaps soldier on for one more payday

Can't see Mosley winning even if he brings his A game (he is shot), he should have retired after Mayweather with some dignity left, hope he doesn't get hurt.

cd2010: Mosley not getting hurt means he will run. I will wait to speak about him after the fight to see if he planned on running or gave it a shot. Nobody wants to see a fighter seriously hurt, but that's why heavyweights were so popular, KOs meant damage. Nascar fans they did a study on and found the majority of people are anticipating an accident, even though they want no one to get hurt. Boxing's the same, I want to see a clear win, by KO... not even TKO. Let them 10 count/... Frazier was funny about a decade ago on Howard Stern when he said fighters today should be willing (and) to die in the ring for that kind of money. He brought up times before him when fighter fought twice monthly to the death, and trained next day for another fight to pay the bills. Maybe a winner take all would encourage more heart! Then you would see Mayweather at his best!
