Many people think that Manny has no shot at beating De La Hoya. It should be an interesting matchup considering De La Hoya has to lose alot of weight to get down to 147 plus Pacquiao has never fought at that weight division. I would definitely love to watch the fight if it actually happens...

It's a fight between two names that HBO is putting together (or forcing Pacman into) because they are simply too greedy to put their stars in fights that are significant or even relevant. Sign me up for the camp that says Oscar can't lose to this man.

Give me better than 2-1 on Manny, and I'll be just stupid enough to drop a unit on him to win this freak show.
He can win this fight on speed, but he has other tools to fall back on. I'd be stunned if Manny could badly hurt Oscar, but he should have just enough pop (even at 147) to get Oscar's respect.
The biggest thing going for him is that if his chin holds up long enough to get him into the final third of the fight, he should have a ridiculous edge in stamina late. Give me the prime condition closer over a past it late rounds box any day as a big enough dog.

I just don't see how Manny can carry 147 well, I mean we are talking about a guy who started his career at light flyweight. The size discrepancy here is huge. Hopefully the Phillipino contingent bet their boy hard.

Manny got greedy and didn't want to face the fact that De La Hoya is the main draw. He didn't want to accept the the 30%, which would have been more money than he has probably earned in all his previous fights combined. Sometimes these idiots don't think about actually how much they are really making. He needed to realize he was making a shit load of money because he was fighting De La Hoya, who is the biggest draw in boxing.
His loss, De La Hoya will still make 30 million plus fighting someone else while Manny can go and make his 2 million, if he's lucky fighting another fighter.

Good point, but 30% is an awfully low share with all of the fans/tickets/buys that Manny brings to the table. I agree it would have been his biggest payday, but do you let someone else take advantage of you? DLH would be filling his pockets off of Manny's name at Manny's expense.

Would he really be filling his pockets at Mannys' expense? DLH has 5-7 of the biggest PPV draws ever. There isn't ANYONE that Manny could fight that would bring close the the 100 million (that was the estimated figure) that DLH was bringing. That would have been at least 30 million for Manny...taken advantage of or not...if thats more than you've made in your entire career, I think you take it, especially when there isn't ANY OTHER FIGHTHER he could fight that would bring him that much in 3 fights. Heck, even if he fought Mayweather 3 straight fights, he would struggle to hit that.. DLH will now fight Mora and still make over 50 million (this is including his purse and revenue profit, which I feel he would get around 30 million for the fight plus an additional 20 million from the ppv buys)
I know a fighter never wants to be taken advantage of, but for the above money reasons, he may not really be getting the short end of the straw since DLH is what is bring the majority of the money to the table.

The fight is still in talks, Im hoping it's a marketing ploy to generate interest. There are minor revenue adjustments being made, Pac should have accepted this earlier. An article from boxingscene says that linesmakers would probably have DLH as a less than 2-1 fav.
I'll take Oscar at any price. Right now Guzman is my parlay partner for everything, if the lines are released here, Oscar will be my new parlay guy. My bets are usually small avg 50$, but by fight night, I'd have about 1k riding on Oscar, ill have about 600 riding on Guzman with a late hedge.Juan Diaz is another possibility, but -330 isn't very appearling.
This fight symbolizes everything that's wrong with boxing. But it will also make me a lot of money, so let it happen.
Im not sure about the KO prop though, this could turn into a sparring session, where both guys privately know it's about making boat loads of money, and not getting hurt in the process. If DLH treats this like a real fight, he can KO manny easily within 7.

Stamina could be an issue if Oscar drains excessively, but a real contest between them doesn't go 8. And against Manny, DLH can be relaxed and flowing, unlike vs Floyd where he was tense and hesitant. The more Manny tries to fight, the better it is for DLH, and he doesn't have to worry about counter punches the way Floyd gave him.
