I don't think your getting my point Spin. Kessler has the best resume on this last after Taylor. 2 points. If you watch other sports (horse racing is a good example) where other horses have better reputations then an unbeaten newcomer with great breeding. Newcomers are known as unexposed, which means yes their breeding is good but no one can really be sure just how good the new unexposed horse is compared to the seasoned horse that has won many races. We have seen just how good Kessler is but we have no idea just how good Ward is. He would be the next P4P contender or just an over-hyped Olympian (they have been many). In truth no one, can be sure what Ward and Dirrell will bring to this. If they are both flops the tournament is the worse for it.
Point 2 is that I have seen nothing from Kessler to make me think he is the next boxing superstar. A very good, technically sound boxer,
no doubt. A superstar? As Bernard Hopkins says ->
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NtB0gD6O_Ak . "Kessler's not in my league man". I happen to fully agree with B-HOP. No way Kessler beats B-HOP, even now and the guy is nearly 45. I think if Kessler fought the JT that fought B-HOP he loses that fight too. My point spin is that in my eyes Kessler is
not a superstar, he is not a p4p top 10 even in my eyes. A very good boxer but not a superstar.
I hope a new superstar emerges from this. If there is going to be a new superstar, in my eyes its going to be Ward or Dirrell.
AA has all the tools and if the home of boxing was in Europe (especially Germany) he would be the next super-middleweight king but even if AA wins this he will not take off in the states. People won't pay to watch him fight pay per view, even if he wins all 5 fights by KO. He lacks charsima and marketability. He just doesnt excite too much.
Kessler, I honestly am totally convinced someone beats him, either in semi or final. Because he is so so solid I do expect him to get at least the semi's. But a more gifted figher beats him. If he goes on to win this then I don't believe we have a new superstar. Like AA, I don't see him selling huge tickets in the States. If Vitali was American he would be a living legend (far bigger then he is now). Get my point?
Froch, Just way to limited in everyway..not enough skill, not enough charisma. No chance..
JT, The one man who had a chance to be a superstar. A man who did not make the most of his good given talent. Boxing is a remorseless sport. This is his second chance. I think it's too late. Too many mental scars.
Dirrell. If this guy can back up the boasts man he could could be soo exciting. I love his style but he is so easy to put on his butt (from what I have seen) and I question this guys heart when the chips are down and his overall belief in himself..
Ward. My personal favourite. Just a classy guy, a classy boxer. He is what boxing needs. Can he deliver. Getting Kessler first up is the worst draw. JT would have been ideal.
I would love if Ward won this in style, Paul Williams and/or Chad Dawson then proved they are the real deal. Now them are some fights!
I truly believe if this were 2 years don the line Ward wins easy enough against Kessler. Having this fight with Kessler right now could really be a bad thing for Ward and I have this as a 50/50 fight. Whereas the odds are -300 Kessler. If Ward turns out to be a flop, I apologise but I feel its worth taking on Kessler in this spot. Basically I am banking on a exposed horse against a season vet. Not always smart and if this was in Denmark no way. But I have a hunch Ward fancies the job and I will be betting on Ward and Ward UD..
AA and Ward are my picks to win it all. If Dirrell can win his first fight then sets the cat amongst the pigeons. Saturday just can not come soon enough!
