Take this news for what it is worth but the fight may actually be done !!!!

It's an off weekend for tourists so mgm simply set aside 1200 rooms and jacked up the price so in the chance the fight is made they will be covered. Once news hits that the fight cannot be made for 5/2 they simply unblock the 1200 rooms and the price for standard rooms and such drops significantly. The majority of vegas travelers on an off weekend in May are from California and they book the rooms a few weeks in advance. A few weeks before 5/2 means as long as the rooms are clear for booking by 4/17 or so everything is fine.

this is the 5th time in over 5 yrs the fight has been talked about in terms of negotiations going on at some level.  serious news about the current negotiations did not come out until around Jan 15th or so.

the real question is: when the fight does not get made for 5/2 will you come back in here and apologize to me for your personal insults??

i simply cannot imagine a sporting event this huge getting contracts signed just 10 weeks and a few days prior to the event date.

there are huge logistical implications here in play.  you don't sign the biggest PPV event in boxing history, just 10.5 weeks before the event.

it's borderline insanity.  some people just don't seem to get the common sense involved here.

Lastly your statement about the 10 week thing shows how little boxing knowledge you actually have. Maywhether has strung this out intentionally because Pac usually has a 10-12 week training regimen ..... You announce / agree to fight at 10 week mark then make Pac go on a 2 week tour to promote you have cut his training time by a 1/3 that is the main reason why Maywhether has insisted announcing is to control the calendar.

How come you keep telling Floyd/Cotto on 5/2 then. Cotto is not even in the picture right now. I won't be surprised if the announcement of Floyd/Pacman will be made soon.

the mayweather camp supposedly dangled 40 mil in front of cotto for a rematch, this offer was a few mos ago supposedly and would happen 5/2.  i guess at that time the manny fight was not being discussed / negotiated.

roach already said he needs 8 weeks to train manny plus manny already supposedly started training a few weeks ago.  he will just do the normal training regimen then bring in sparring partners to play the part of floyd.

i don't think floyd gains a tactical advantage by delaying this.  why would it hurt manny and not him.  you said the MGM knows something so why wouldn't manny's camp know the same thing.

there is no good reason whatsoever to delay this other than floyd being a drama queen girl, or scared to fight a real boxer who can beat him, or perhaps it is both.

Wow - I can’t believe this debate is over rooms being reserved.

If Mayweather didn’t announce (a fight) for May on Showtime and hadn’t fought in the month of May the last 3 consecutive years, I’d be more inclined to believe the hype. If the trends didn’t exist - I’d understand the enthusiasm. All this is - is people jumping to conclusions based on trends.

I don’t believe the fight is happening but if I was in charge of the MGM, I would raise the room rates as an anticipatory measure. It seems like a common sense business decision on the MGM’s part, IMHO.

And, if I could afford it, I would fork out six figures for tickets and get VIP reservations at the MGM (like a boss). I would have done it - if I could - even though I still don’t believe the fight is happening.

The only things that could happen are - (a fight does happen) - but it’s not the Pacquiao fight - I could cancel my reservation if I choose not to go (no biggie) or I could have a good time on Cinco de Mayo weekend and enjoy the festivities that MGM has to offer that holiday weekend.

To believe the fight might happen because of room reservations makes me chuckle.

Anyone else burst out laughing when May fan boys repeatedly say this nonsense ad nauseam? No one has ever picked Pacquiao apart. Hell, when have you ever watched a Mayweather fight and thought - Damn, Mayweather gave (insert whoever) a beating of his life.

Mayweather has no chance at knocking out Pacquiao - None whatsoever. Pacquiao can move forward all night long without having to worry about being put on the canvas. Pacquiao throws knockout punches when his feet aren’t even planted on the ground and completely off balance. Pacmans KO power and wild unorthodox unpredictability is what Mayweather fears.

Mayweather has a very keen detailed eye. There is a reason he is undefeated (besides being a cheery picker). He can see and predict his opponents punches. If he fights Pacquiao - it will be the first time in his career that he won’t be able to definitively predict his opponents attack.   

Everyday that passes the less likely this fight takes place. If it is going to happen it better be announced by the end of the week. There is only 70 days until May 2nd.

Arum and Roach are not even mentioning about Floyd/Cotto right now, you're talking a few months ago.

I have to give myself some credit for one thing: I have said since Dec 2009 that this fight would not get done unless one or both fighters were desperate financially. I was 4-0 in the last 4 negotiations. It's so sad to see manny have a 75 mil tax lien against him now and be in such dire straits that he had to prod and needle floyd publicly then bend over to Floyds demands in negotiations. Floyd got about 80% of what he demanded err wanted, from what I'm reading. I underestimated mannys financial woes when i made the prediction of no 5/2 fight and that's my fault lol

I snagged Pac +225 earlier today as it looks like the line is dropping. My gut is the asian gamblers will have this at +175 by fight night. Thoughts?

How are you getting tickets to this fight? I will be in town fight weekend booked hotel and flight already.
