pacquiao fights mayweather
who would win?
You could make an argument either way.. it's just too bad they'll never actually settle it themselves.. although alot will be riding on Pac's fight with Shane.. in terms of legacy and the "argument".. and in what manner Pacman beats Shane, IF at all.. as far as common opponents go, history will show that Pacman beat them in more convincing fashion than Floyd did (See Oscar, Hatton, perhaps even Marquez). Arguments abound, and always will, legitimizing who is the best.. to me, there's still only one way to find out.. everything else will forever just be speculation... But personally, I like Mayweather by late KO.

Marquez ? huh? Marquez arguably beat Manny twice and Mayweather shut him out on the cards how can you say "perhaps even Marquez" ?

Well, perhaps Manny didn't dominate Marquez the way Mayweather did, at least compared to his destruction of Oscar and Hatton versus that of Mayweather's, but again, it's an argument we're talking about here. So the question, which was proposed by turok, is who wins? So..

After all is said and done, when it comes to arguing who was better, Manny or Floyd, I don't think anyone BUT hardcore boxing fans such as us will take notice of what condition or in what sequence or in what style common opponents were defeated. What else is there to go on? I mean seriously. All anyone will look at is this, 1. Oscar de la Hoya; Floyd beat him via unanimous decision, Manny destroyed him via 8th round KO. 2. Ricky Hatton; Floyd Knocked him out in 10, Manny in 2. 3. Marquez; Floyd beat him handily over twelve rounds, Manny, over the course of 24 epic rounds with him, drew and won a split decision. 4. Shane Mosely; Floyd won a convincing 12 round unanimous decision, Manny? Well what's to be said after he Knocks Shane out in 6 rounds? If you can't settle it in the ring, Manny is clearly doing the next best thing to cement his position in the argument vs. Floyd; fight and beat Mayweather leftovers, in more convincing fashion. I have to admit, it's a smart move on his part.

Something I came across in an article..
Roach told me that as Mosley went the full 12 rounds with Mayweather it would send out a statement if Pacquiao wins this fight on a stoppage. “He wants everyone to know who the best fighter in the world is,” Roach said — and there would be no better way to do this than by becoming the first to halt Mosley.
