Hey Fullbrights, Speaking of spring chickens, can you go into more detail at some point on your relatively large Castillo play? I was originally on it, too, but I didn't realize that Castillo is 31 (while Montiel is 28). I definitely want Castillo to beat Montiel, but I started to have a few concerns as I analyze the fight a little more: (1) Castillo's penchant for cutting, and (2) the age factor.
Good luck on your plays this weekend. I may take your advice and throw a few bones on Pinzon in order to have something to cheer for on the Telemundo show.
Castillo's tendency to cut is definitely a concern, I mean it's the
reason he lost his title. That cut was nasty in the Nashiro fight and
in my opinion the reason the fight was so close when it was stopped.
He has had some scar tissue removed since, so that shouldn't hurt. I
just really like Castillo in this spot for a couple reasons,.
Technically he is better than Montiel, he should win the battle inside
and I actually think he can fight on an even level from the outside with Montiel even though his hands are slower due to those technical skills. Plus, he has the better chin.
Yes, Castillo is 31, but I really feel that he is the fresher fighter of the two; Montiel has more miles on him and has been fighting at a championship level for seven years. I thought the regression that was evident in the Melendez fight had really started to show itself in the Posuwan fight.
Plus, I like a couple of other the factors that may or may not play a role. I really like the pairing of Castillo and Rudy Perez a lot. Espinoza has been on a very nice run putting his fighters in very good spots (Huerta and Vasquez) to succeed. Montiel has been grumbling about GBP for over a year, so what does GBP do? They put him in against a Top Rank fighter on a Top Rank card, no GBP influence concern here. Most importantly I have a gut feeling here, so this is the reason for a larger than usual dog play. I will probably take out a bit more next week also if I see the line climb to +130 again or higher. I see Castillo winning and setting up an Arce fight which he will also win.

2 fight parlay .50 to win 1.58 Under 9.5 in Olusegun-Wright (+170) Pavlik (-185) .65 of a unit on Pinzon (+320) vs Rivera
I didn't get to see the fight, but it looks like Pinzon's record was what it appeared to be and nothing more, PADDED. You always take a chance playing these guys from South America sight unseen, but I have been less hesitant to play them post Ricardo Torres. Down .63 of a unit headed into tonight. When will the drought end?
Two more for tonight....I really think we see a stinker tonight on HBO, 117-111 Punisher.
1.3 units on over 9.5 rounds (-130) in Williams-Quintana .5 of a unit on Williams by 12 round decision (+149)

What a shocker! Great performance by Quintana. Broke even cashing the under and losing my Williams prop plus small parlay on that fight. I have a feeling a lot of people took a big hit tonight by taking Williams in some fashion. Reads like Rubio gave Zertuche a beatdown, I like it.
Won .52 of a unit for the week.
About time 2008 brought a winning week as small as it was.
