Monty Meza Clay vs. Fernando Lizarraga
Under 9.5 (-120)

Meza Clay's starting to make a name for himself in the super feather division, as he's won both fights by KO since moving down from 130. I saw his last fight against Eric Aiken on Friday Night Fights, and I was very impressed by Meza Clay's work rate and power. He used a bobbing (dare I say "Tyson-esque") style to easily come inside on Aiken and connect with his powerful combos. It's one thing to throw a bunch of punches, but it's a different matter to have the type of handspeed that actually leads to connecting with some flush shots. Meza Clay did just that, as he steadily wore Aiken down before finishing him in the 7th round. I expect more of the same tonight, as Lizarraga isn't even as accomplished as Aiken; plus Lizarraga's 32 years of age, which is old for this weight class. Although Lizarraga had a respectable result in his last fight by drawing with the capable Tomas Villa, I think Lizarraga's going to have problems with the stronger Meza Clay. I expect Meza Clay to impose his will on his weaker opponent, and since Lizarraga's been stopped four times before, it seems likely that this one will end inside of ten rounds.
