Personally I think Toney will get dominated just as he did in the second Peter fight. No Rahman is not as good as Peter I know but Toney is just too old and out of shape anymore to stay busy for 12 rounds .He doesnt really have the power to KO Rahman so I think Rahman will win on activity alone.
Toney is now 40 (in a month) and is way past his prime .He also hasnt fought in a year since winning a SD against Danny Batchelder,a no name, not even in the top 100 heavyweight /cruiserweight.
Rahman is not a top 10 heavyweight but he is good enough to beat a old ,fat, over the hill Toney. My guess is Toney will come in around 225-228.
Anyone else ??

Toney's taken the year off because he's been suspended due to a
positive steroids test following the Batchelder fight (Batchelder also
tested positive). The Toney of 2003-05 would probably outwork Rahman.
But I'm not sure how much the steroids were helping Toney (who began
his career as a middleweight) keep his muscle mass. If they were a big
part of him bulking up, then I think we could see some kind of
regression similar to what happened to Giambi in the MLB. I'd like to
see some photos of Toney and hear about his training camp before I make
up my mind. On sheer boxing ability alone, Toney would win this if
he's got anything left.

I like James Toney to pretty much handle Rahman. Rahman has one win to his credit which Lennox did not even take him seriously. Other then that hes not done much. I think James Toney could be a heavyweight champion at not such a strong division, if he just put his mind to it. Should be an easy fight for him in my opinion.

I am hearing very good things from his camp. Some reporters are saying he is as sharp as he was for Holyfield. I am going to wait for the weigh in before I do anything. If James is closer to 220 than 240, he might be worth a wager.
Good luck all.

Toney to pretty much handle Rahman??? Where did you come from and where have you been??
Heavyweight champion?? I hope you're kidding
How is a 40 year old Toney going to out work a 35 year old Rahman when two years ago a 38 year old Toney couldnt. Did you watch the first time these two fought two years ago? The only reason this was a draw was due to corupt judges. Everyone that watched the first fight and knows anything about boxing knows Rahman won the first fight. Anyone that says Rahman didnt win the first fight doesn't know what they are talking about.
I have heard Toney is in better shape but better shape than what ? The 237 on the last fight? Probably , but I still bet he weighs at least 225 and probablt closer to 230. I heard he still has a flabby belly .There is no way he got down to the 217 he was at when he fought Holyfield.
I'm betting Rahman and probably betting big on him. GL to whatever you do

I also reckon (less strongly) that Toney gets stopped for the first time.
I dunno why people think Toney has come in good shape, it looks the same ole Rahman n Toney to me. Sure he has some defensive skills, but he is 40, and not a good 40 at that.
I’m just praying Rahman won’t burn himself out early trying to get that TKO.
I’d rather Rahman by TKO than the Under but my bookie ain’t offering that line.
Cmon Rahman don’t blow it…

Rahman to win: Big bet
Under 11.5: Small bet
Well I reckon Rahman will take it.

Well I will be big on Toney so at least one of us will win. I did think that first fight was close, but Toney took Rahman lightly then, which he should've because Rahman sucks. He got in a lucky punch against Lewis, and that is as far as his career goes. GL to whatever you choose to do.

Rahman is not consistent enough to hit Toney. You'll see him try to paw with his jab and actually use his right hand but he wont have anythign to hit. Toney is too elusive for Rahman. Toney can stand right in front of Rahman and he couldn't touch him. By the way toney weighed in at 224 which means = hes actually in shape.
Toney by Decision looks like money to me

No way should Rahman be favored in this fight. If I were a book I would give all Rahman backers as much as +130, as he should easily be +150 in my opinion anyway. Not sure if you really have watched these guys box BIGAMER, but Rahman is not in the same league as James Toney. Hell hes not in the same league as sorry John Ruiz.

Well I may be crazy, but I'm liking Black Buddah a good bit here. I never thought I would say that again after his feet looked like they were in concrete against Peter in the rematch and he barely beat Batchelder. Maybe I'm buying into the maxboxing love for him, but Rahman has looked just as bad as Toney his last couple times against Lawrence and Sykes. I like the weight drop for Toney, the news that he is doing roadwork again for the first time in quite a while, and the promotional edge.that he has here. I think Toney does enough to win a close but clear decision.
2.75 units on Toney (+110)

I've been deliberating on this one all week, and as much as I hate Toney for campaigning at heavyweight, I haven't found a reason to lay chalk on Hasim Rahman. What Toney has chosen to do with the last days of his hall of fame career is a disgrace. It's disrespectful to the game, and it makes a mockery of his talent.
But none of that necessarily precludes him from beating C and B- level heavyweights. Just remember that this is a boxing match, not a body building contest. In the last meeting between these two, I apparently saw a much closer fight than Harold Lederman and others in this thread, but I'll concede that Rahman probably won 7 rounds due to Toney's lack of activity. Toney was 237 for that fight, heaviest of his career. He's about 10 pounds lighter, as an older man, for this fight. Toney has boxed 24 rounds with Sam Peter in the interim (and split those fights in my view). Rahman has been savagely knocked out by a journeyman (whom Peter destroyed in short order), beaten a few bums, and looked worst than I have ever seen him before stopping Zuri Lawrence, a bum, in the last round.
In that first fight, I saw Toney land the much cleaner, sharper blows, despite being the smaller man. He could literally hit Rock with looping right hands whenever he felt like it, and I believe Toney has the voltage to stop Rahman tonight with sharp combination punching. Alternatively, I see little chance for Rahman to land cleanly enough to stop Toney, who has one of the greatest chins of all time, and is simply too slick for Rock. Toney is a class above Rahman, and his weight would indicate that he's ready to prove it this time around.
Good luck to everyone laying chalk on a dead fighter, I'll take Fat Toney +110 for 2 units with a bonus bet on Toney ITD.

I had guessed Toney would come in between 225- 228 which he has. Also let me say from the pictures I seen Rahman is a solid 244 whereas Toney still has a flabby belly and loose skin everywhere.Toney is over the hill and expect him to look even worse than he has in the past because he has nothing left.
First larger sized post on this size
I have 675 to win 500 at -135 GL whatever you play

Just heard from Goossen's PR person weights are:
Toney- 226
Rahman- 244

I'm not gonna play this fight, but my lean is Toney. Rahman doesn't move very well, and that's the type of fighter who Toney can take advantage of with his slick moves and counters. Sure, Toney didn't fare too well in their first fight, but he was 10 pounds heavier, while Rahman was 6 pounds lighter. I think the added weight hurts Rahman in a fight that looks to go the distance, while the weightloss allows Toney to stay fresh longer. Also, steroids has been known to adversely affect endurance, so I think the year off of the substances could actually be a benefit for Toney tonight.

Most are on Toney eh? When they first met, I thought Rahman clearly won. Most rematches have the same result as the original. What makes you think it'll be different this time?
And Brainiac, why are you quoting the line movement? The line movement doesn't always indicate the result. Who cares about the line movement?

decided to take Toney for 8 units. Really don't understand the odds on this fight as some of the good boxing cappers above stated that Toney is in a class way above the Rock. If Toney really wanted to and cared about his career, he could beat almost all the heavy's out there. Lets hope he shows it tonight
