I wrote it earlier this week, and am not always right but nailed this one - don't buy Floyd mid-week. The time to buy is Saturday morning, or late afternoon.
Again, I may be wrong, it happens, but I think by early evening you will see the sharp money waited, correctly, for the price to drop as Brits arrived, then they will hit the counter and drive it back up, getting the line at it's most advantageous before the rise.
Aside from who wins the bout, when to buy is a handicapping art all on it's own, more so in boxing than in any other sport, because of the line moves and time differential between when the opening line goes up and actual fight time, which is months later.
It makes world of difference to your bank account.
Example, let's say Floyd loses tonight. Impulse buyers who bought immediately can lose as much as -280 to -300. To lose 3 units means the profit from THREE other fights (assuming they were favs and not dogs at + money) handicapped correctly are wasted. If purchased correctly, the loss could be greatly reduced, if you buy Floyd at -180 for example, which just saved you +120, or kept one of those three wins in your pocket.
Taking into consideration betting habits, knowing betting habits, knowing which boxers have huge followings, which ones have pure fans as opposed to betting fans, is very helpful (I spent 6 years running a sports book on the strip, and that experience helps me tremendously. That, and I'm a bit of a math-head.)
