Talk about value here. Another Yuri Foreman fight in NYC. This time against Saul Roman, who somehow easily beat Kassim Ouma last time out. The guy clearly has heart and looked really good in pulling that huge huge upset. Before that, he had been knocked out twice in the 4th round, the second to some 7-12 dude in Mexico. Now we only have to lay 2-1 on Yuri, who's style plays to the judges.
I don't have delusions of grandeur with Yuri but he's slick enough to score enough points to beat a Mexican club fighter. Even if it is close, he gets the decision. We've seen that in the past. Maybe, maybe if I was catching 5-1, I'd consider Roman live, but not at +170.
Foreman has no power whatsoever but he'll win plenty of rounds, especially late, to win another fight in NYC.
Foreman -200 4 units to win 2 units.
Also like Clottey tonight. The A-B-C result study doesn't always tell the whole story, but Clottey recently showed he was a class above Shamone Alvarez who outclassed Cruz. I can't ignore that. C I feel like sometimes Clottey doesn't leave everything in the ring. Even in the Alvarez fight, which he dominated, he didn't seem to be at his best. Hopefully he doesn't overlook Cruz. If he doesn't, should be another UD.
Clottey -550 2.75 units to win .5

But as I told BOXEO's crew, this -2oo is too low. Either this is a good value, or someone knows something bad on Yuri that I don't. Saul is tough, has reportedly had a nice camp, and has a 6`` Reach edge to get to Yuri.
I have Yuri w/ Strum & Khan. Gonna throw Clottey the same. Looking at maybe trying Saul ITD if I can find such. As I'm not as sure-fire on this one as I was on Monday when I placed that above Parlay.

Interesting CS comparison, I would not have thought that up, but I see why you did HA1. Yuri has indeed never been stopped, he's been hurt, buzzed & cut. But I also doubt Saul has the in-ring skillz to purely out-point Yuri (sans at least one 10-8 KD round, possibly even two). So I'm fig'ing that if Saul can upset the Yuri wagon, he must stop him in Yuri's backyard to be sure.

I might think a while before making a big play on Foreman. Consider that there won't be many squares willing to fade Yuri in his own backyard at this price. I've been wondering to myself why they would allow me to cash such a cheap -200 ticket. Maybe I'll be totally off, but I see more value in Clottey at -600.

Late to the party, good to see this card is generating some convo.
Foreman is a scary to fighter to bet on just because of his substantial lack of power. I won on him last time out against Tsurkan, but there were some scary moments in that fight; around round 3 he looked like he didn't even want to be there. I was the loser of what I thought was a controversial decision against Thompson and it wouldn't surprise if the cards may be a bit sided to him tonight. Roman threw a good many punches against Ouma, if he stays active here he has a good chance. As you said Bigs he does have a reach advantage and power edge also.

Saw where you parlayed Sturm in there, I would be leery of betting him laying that kind of chalk with his recent performances. Agree completely on Clottey.

I know the fight isn't over yet, but I was off on this one. I thought that Roman had as much speed as Tsurkan who isn't too fast, was a better puncher, and would give Foreman more than Andrey. Problem is he's even slower than Tsurkan, maybe he just looked faster against Ouma because Ouma looked so bad.

Bad game plan by Roman. Although not as fast as Foreman, he could have pressed more instead of just walking forward and getting hit in the head. Not a fan of Foreman and still believe he is very beatable.

Kinda an oddball nite. Three 1u parlays got thru, three sub 1u parlays got shot down. Go fig?
I'm ok with that. Presuming Khan & Felix "Elle McPhearson" Strum close.
Not sure what to take away from that? Yuri looked good? Or Saul looked awful? Yuri looked fast, I'm sure of that. The impoverished mans Cory Spinks take has a bit more cachet for it. The Rabbinical Training take was quite interesting.
& memo to self: Vs. Network headliners tend very much to be lopsided.

Yeah bigeiii Versus hasn't put on a good card in like 2 years. At least this one was slightly better than that hideous Fields/Antillon bs last month.
The Rabbi thing is very intriguing and I don't know if it is true but it only makes me ready to bet against him when he steps up. Still, he has the skills to beat a guy like Roman every time out.
easy 2-0 last night +2.5 units.
Today's action:
Romanov/Thaxton Under 10.5 rds (+180) .56 units to win 1 unit
I'm hoping that the second Yuri of the weekend can establish the pace of this fight. Everything I read about him suggests that he looks for early KO's and comes right at people. Coupled that with the fact that last time he went to the UK he lost a close decision, I think he will be looking to stop the veteran Thaxton. If he fails, maybe Thaxton can stop him. He's got some power left I hope. Either way with the home court advantage of Thaxton I cant pick a side but I like it to end before the final bell.
Daniel Jimenez +170 .3 units to win .51 units
Chavez looked faded against Julio Diaz and suffered an injury to boot. Now he's back and he's decided to get in there against live opposition in Jimenez. He's also coming off a loss (late KO in tight fight) but I think he can beat Chavez if he brings his B game (Escobedo will attest). Worth a small play at +170.

Nice night last night. I like both of those plays, I initially liked Thaxton a bit having only seen him against Meager; that was until I viewed his last fight against Stewart. There were some shaky moments in that fight against a non-puncher who had never done much. I think Romanov and Thaxton's styles mesh well for an exciting fight.

Which really is a shame seeing as how Versus gives Arum a pretty big budget for these shows, I think he gets like 75k to work with. He could put on much better shows. You get better main events on ESPN2 on a far lesser budget.
Good to see though that the Hatton-Lazcano card will air live on the network. I was surprised when that came about.

What are we thinking about the under 9.5 +250? This covers two very possible scenarios, a possibly chinny Jimenez getting caught by better class, and Chavez injuring himself again and forcing a stoppage. Nasty angle to play, but the line is tempting.

I thought about it alot actually. My fear is that Chavez does outclass him and shows his class early. Jimenez is coming off a knockdown loss and if Chavez can get to him early, I could see him being stopped. As far as the injury goes, tough call. The guy seems like he has taken his time coming back so you would hope he is healed past the point of it costing him the fight. Something to keep in the back of your mind though
I like the under play but I liked the Jimenez play just a little bit more and didn't want to play them both.

I don't think that Jimenez is chinny by any means. He was more or less exhausted against Martinez in those late rounds. I remember him stumbling around and wanting to throw, but his body wouldn't allow it, he was dead tired. I wondered then if making 130 had taken a toll on his stamina, hopefully Evangelista has him ready for tonight.
