So the Ti-Cats look awful, Lions look great. Eskimos up there as well whilst the Stampeders finally fell from grace. The Als are slowly improving and the Argo's couldn't hold the lead against the Bombers. Redblacks winless after 4 weeks with 2 games this weekend for them and the Riders coming off a bye. This league is great because there are no absolutely pathetic teams. Its a very close competitive league these days which is just great.
The Redblacks play Wednesday at home against the big hitting Als. Will the Als fall from grace after their amazing win vs the Stamps and will the Redblacks finally get their win?
Thats a big game for both teams as the Als can really start to put some momentum together if they can steal a win in Ottawa. The Redblacks head to Toronto after this game.
Edmonton @ Ti-Cats is a game which is just very hard to cap. The Eskimos haven't been on the road much at all this first 4 weeks (just one game against BC) and now they will head to Hamilton who are trying to find themselves let alone a win. This team used to have Tim Horton's stadium packed to the rafters and home field advantage was huge. Collaros was a beast but now that has all fallen apart since his big knee injury a few seasons back. This line IMHO will be around -6 in favour of the Eskimos but if it is, thats a hard number to lay with the Eskimos on the road against a winless team. Week #6 doesn't get much better for the Cats, they head to Calgary and the Eskimo's will entertain the Lions.
Saturday's game I cannot wait for.. Bombers @ Lions. Love what the Bombers are doing and also love the Lions under Wally's instructions. Great coach, great QB as well and their D has stepped up this season. Coming off a long 3 game road trip, finally get home and hoping to open the account with a win at home after losing Week #1 to the Eskimos in Vancouver. Home favs are 84-32 S/U after coming off a 2+ game road trip. Not a bad stat considering only 57% of home teams win in this league dating back to 2007.
Riders @ Calgary. You gotta feel sorry for the Riders entering Calgary off a loss? But at least the Riders did have a week to prepare with the bye in Week #4. The Als were able to shut down the offense of the Stampeders and the Stampeders D wasn't the best. Apart from the game where they allowed 10 vs the Bombers, the Stampeders D has been pretty poor. Can Glenn get his offense going in Calgary? Never like to go against a juggernaut team in any league especially off a favorite loss..
Final game is the Redblacks again this week in Toronto.. Hard to assess this game until after the Redblacks have played Wednesday night. They might be still looking for their first win..

Montreal Alouettes @ Ottawa Redblacks: Alouettes +5
I have been a big critic of Durant and his poor completion rate this season with his passes but this Als team is showing some good signs and after that massive win last week vs the Stamps, I think they can shut down the Redblacks in this game as the pressure on the Redblacks to get their first win is massive. Ottawa has been playing good football, they just can't get a win unfortunately and now face a tough ask against a divisional rival. The Redblacks will head to Toronto after this game as well for week #5 so 2 games in 5 days is a tough ask/. They also played just last Friday night so really its 3 games in a 10 day turn around. Think the Als can really make a game of this one.

Thanks Fab. I think Montreal took a few games to get used to their new systems and their Defense is good. Any team that can keep Mitchell and the Stampeders under 24 has to have a good defense. Lets see if they can bring it tonight.

Will take the push because the Als didn't really deserve to cover that match... Their offense looks poor at times. I don't expect either of these 2 teams to do much this season.. I still have the Als totals wins Under 10 for the season and they are sitting at 2-3 after week 5 with the Bombers on deck next...

Good you pushed and I think we learned a little bit about both teams in this game. Ottawa has major issues as well not being able to cover with all the free gifts in the first half.
Montreal's D keeps them in games and the only way they cover is the offense has to execute better.
4 first half turnovers, A missed extra point, an unnecessary 2 point try in the 3rd Q and lastly A goal line stand all went against us and you still got a push.
Nothing is ever in the bank until it is in the bank

It was an ugly game from both teams Spottie and the Redblacks should have really won this game by double digits but it just shows you that the Redblacks aren't going to well right now..

Not as favorites but they hang around in most of the games. Still makes them a decent dog.

Bit of revenge for the Bombers. Nichols talking it down but these guys are athletes and don't forget these things. Love Wally and the Lions and they are searching for their first home win but this game has all the quality aspects of being a great, close game. Wouldn't be surprised if either team wins by 3 or less.

that is the CFL right there! Nice win and stay hot Aussie
Thanks Spottie... It was a massive lead to blow by the Bombers. They had that game wrapped up but the Lions and Lulay fought hard to come back and get the win.

thought that guy was going to bring it back after the missed fg ;0
You never know what can happen in this league Snoopy... Have seen some crazy things. Wouldn't put it passed a guy to run with the ball, up by 3 after a missed FG and then possibly fumble the ball and give it back to the opposition.

The Stamps haven't been their usual self this season and now going up against the Riders who are first in the league for passing yards. Glenn has thrown for 30 completions in 3 straight games and no QB in CFL history has been able to do it for a 4th time. I expect a total lockdown on defense from the Stampeders tonight and a comfortable win.

Nice cover by the Stampeders.. Riders once again weak on the road.. Mitchell wasn't and hasn't been at his best lately, not hitting his targets as often but their defense in the first half was too much the Riders.. back on Monday for the Redblacks and Argonauts...

Ottawa Redblacks @ Toronto Argonauts: Redblacks +3.5
I got the number I wanted.. Some games already this season have come down to the precious field goal difference. Now the expectation IMHO is that the Argonauts are going to turn their season around and do something amazing this season. I don't buy it though. I truly don't. Maybe I am wrong and maybe I have capped the wrong side for this game but I will take Harris and the Redblacks with revenge in mind against a divisional rival. Yes this will be Ottawa's 3rd game in 10 nights I believe so I expect a high scoring game (I suck at totals on football so rarely bet them). Both these 2 teams lead the league in passing yards.. The Redblacks had the Argo's in Week #3 back in Ottawa but blew a 12-1 lead to lose the 3Q 12-0 and then the 4Q was 13-13 but that 3Q was the game changer.. That will be fresh in their minds no doubt. Harris leads the league in Touchdown passes with 10 and has only given up 2 interceptions in 5 starts which is pretty decent. Ray on the other hand, has only provided 4 touchdown passes to 3 interceptions in 4 starts and thats bizarre for a team that is only rushing the ball an average of 38 yards per game. Both QB's are dead even with yards per attempt, at 8.8 but I do think that the combinations that the Redblacks have and finally getting that pressure of their back the other night to finally get a win will make them play more comfortably now and not so tentative.

Surprised to see people here on Ottawa, especially you Aussie. Great write ups but how is no one taking into account it's Ottawa's fourth game in 17 days? Four days off when Toronto is coming off 8 days. Ray > Harris and Toronto D is a smidge better.
You don't get these opportunities in NFL or in college with this much discrepancy in days off. I don't see how the Ottawa D holds up. Don't know the ATS records for CFL teams coming off four days rest but it has to be horrible. Played the same situation a couple of years back just blindly and won and have been following CFL last three seasons and feel better about my Toronto play tonight at -3
