Yes I'm taking Montreal !!! It's a must win for both teams early in the season but I'm going to back the home team and lay the points. The Alouettes showed some signs of life in the first 2 quarters of last week's game and I couldn't think of a better spot to stop the bleeding. There is only one team I rank behind Montreal in my power rankings and that is Edmonton. Montreal's biggest problem this year has been coaching and the play calling !! I guess the two go hand and hand . Right ! Jerome Messam needs to get involved in the offense a little more. Wake up Mike Miller !! ( Offensive Coordinator )
CAL / WINN UNDER 55 ( 3 units )
55 ?? All I can say is way to high in my opinion. I made my number 52.5. Too many question marks on offense for the Blue Bombers while their defense is stellar. They do have the quickest linebackers in the league and this may pose a problem for Glenn. Buck Pierce status for this game is unknown and I wouldn't get too excited with Goltz at the helm. His numbers last week 13-15 170 yards was when the Argos were playing prevent defense.
HAMILTON +4 ( 1 unit )
SASK / HAM OVER 56 ( 1 unit )
Not to take anything away from the Roughriders because they clearly are the best team in the league after 4 weeks , but usually when good teams in this league get embarrassed the week before they do bounce back. However I'm being cautious here and taking side and total for only 1 unit each.
No line as of yet on the BC/TOR game. Ricky Ray is listed as day to day , while kackert will be out 4-6 weeks. If Ray doesn't play I make the line BC -1 if Ray starts I make Toronto a -3. If I do make a wager on this game I will post it on Thursday.

I will never bet on Dan Hawkins. After taking a good Colorado team and turning them into a doormat, I can't believe someone is actually paying him to coach. Much less coach pro's..
I'm also going to put the 5 units I won on Saskatchewan last week right back on them at -3.5. The Ticats only chance at a score was intercepted at the goal line... And the riders were hitting big plays that were set up off the running game. Thats a recipe for success in any league.
Saskatchewan feels like more easy money...

Of course it feels like easy money, they've been steam rolling over everyone, but if handicapping was this easy !! Meaning , just take the better team. We'd be making money faster than we can spend it. Line is up to 4.5 and my only regret here was that I should of waited.

Now let me say this to those who are following your picks:
You have had the wrong read on Hamilton so far. They are not as good as you might have thought and there is no sign of improvement.
Even worse your read on SAS has been stunningly bad. You played them at home in week two and won. You played against for your biggest play so far this year vs Tor and lost. You played the total last week and didnt come close and NOW you playing against them again with the other team you have misread this year. What does SAS have to do for you to play on or pass the side in their games. They whipped every team they have played so far. They are running wild and Durant is lights out by not turning the ball over. I wont even waste any more space talking about the Def.

"usually when good teams in this league" HAM is NOT a good team on any level right now. Its not the Coach's fault, they have no talent to start with and have been hit hard with injuries to the wrong starters.

I see one game very differently. I believe if SSK falters it will be next week against a good CAL team.
My reasoning in next box.
I had this line as SSK -7.5
Let me guess :
Mike Pringle, Milt Stegall and Avon Cobourne are all going to be dressed for HAM this weekend with a cameo appearance or two courtesy of Mr. Sit-Out himself, Chris Williams!

Durant is 12-0 TD/INT and Korey Sheets has already busted 520+ yds on the ground.
They run on 1st and 2nd down every drive and keep the chains moving in a predominant passing league. Then they exploit a mismatch or two here and with the speed of Bagg and Dressler they torch most secondaries. Add in the defensive end pass rush and ST and there is no weakness on that team except for maybe the coach and we will find that out as the season rolls. LY with the Ticats he was brutal with the red flag. See how he fares this year.
Meanwhile HAM has "0" RUSHING GAME. They abandon it by the 5th minute of the 1st Q. in every game. After Burris our top rusher has 16 yards in 8 carries. That must intimidate the garbage out of the rest of the league. Lamar is going nowhere and was not successful while Walker was still injured 1st 2 games.
HAM won't lose by 37 but they will lose by 11-13 is my call to a team who is beating better teams by an average of 16 pts. a game.

True, Hamilton isn't as good as I thought they would be. Obviously their missing a few key players and I thought Lamar , who had a good pre season was going to be a viable option in the running game. As the season progresses we learn and adjust or power rankings.
When I make a wager, I don't solely base it on past performances. If it was that easy , then the roughriders would run the table and go 18-0. There are a few angles that you have to incorporate in your handicapping along with recent games played. Teams playing off emotion while coming off embarrassing outings are always worth a look especially as a home dog.

Well said . Your skinny on the Green Riders is Spot on.
However, all good things come to an end. I HOPE
BTW----Saskatchewan plays at Calgary in Week 7. Both teams have a bye next week.
