The Saskatchewan Roughrider signed new deals with veteran receiver Jason Armstead and defensive end Fred Perry.
Financial terms of the contracts were not released.
''Fred had a dominant year and is very deserving of this deal,'' stated general manager and VP of Football Operations Eric Tillman. ''In Jason we have an impact player who we must utilize in 2007. His play making ability can change a game when we get the ball in his hands.''
In his first season with the Green and White, Armstead added a new element to the Rider offence. In 15 regular season games the Mississippi product had 47 receptions for 651 yards and a team high six touchdowns. He rushed for 80 yards and one touchdown on 19 carries.
In addition, Armstead returned 20 kickoffs for 267 yards and 42 punts for 412 yards. Overall he finished the season with 1410 all purpose yards. The 27-year-old was acquired third overall by the Riders in the Ottawa Renegades Player Dispersal Draft in 2006.
Perry was a dominant force on the Rider defence this season as he led the team with 14 quarterback sacks in 18 regular season games. He also had 47 defensive tackles, one interception, 10 pass knockdowns, eight tackles for losses and two fumble recoveries, one of which was returned for a touchdown.
Perry's performance this past season earned him numerous accolades including being named to the CFL all-star team and he was also the Rider nominee for Most Outstanding Defensive Player.
The Southern Arkansas product is heading into his third year with the Green and White. He signed with the team as a free agent in 2005.
