What is your estimate on how much DOGE.... The Dept. of Government Efficiency ( set to disband by July 4, 2026) will cut federal spending by the dead line.

According to The National debt clock https://usdebtclock.org/# In less than 3 weeks it has cut over 73,000,000,000 Billion...

Elon Musk said $2 trillion was a "best-case outcome" and that he thinks DOGE has a "good shot" of saving $1 trillion.

I will say Musk The DOGEFather .. will fall a little short ,however he has a fair chance of cutting 850 Billion.....

So,What is your estimate ?

It's kind of ironic that I just re watched the movie  DON'T LOOK UP and realized it was made in 2021.  There are so many political references in the movie, most were the obvious they wanted to portray a trillionaire donor to sit in...its like the Simpsons.

As far as, Musk working for free ..he can afford to,,,,, when it's estimated his daily earnings average $96.1 million...that's a day .

However ,I believe he's doing it because he cares about what's happening in America..

Of course I can't ..Musk has a lot to gain from a Trump presidency.( Gov. subsidies for one .) and as important government contracts Nevertheless,as a sorta quid pro quo situation ,,if America dose well ..Musk benefits also..

Again for me it's not necessarily how much he cuts or what he finds, but rather that some one is actually looking.

Curious what the reaction would be if it were Bezos, Gates, and/or Buffet teaming up.

If the goal of ‘DOGE’ were truly to expose corruption and save taxpayer money it wouldn’t have been preceded by the unlawful firing of 18 Inspectors General whose job it is to expose corruption and save taxpayer money.

I am not so sure that even plays hardly any part in this issue.

He is already getting those government contracts and will continue to.  He has built, more or less, a single point of failure for anything going into space (orbit).

I think he could have simply gotten any extra of those by supporting Trump during the election and in the background, if that was his intent.

He did not need to get involved in depth to 'find waste and free up more money' to get more contracts.

What about the others involved that are not 'wanting' contracts?  What if Ramaswamy had decided to stay on?  What would the detractors say about him exposing waste and corruption?

I think you often see folks that have spent their early years establishing their business and career then shift to other concerns as they age.  Whether it is pure philanthropic, or other causes they see as beneficial.

You saw this with Buffet, Gates, the Waltons, Carnegie, etc., etc.

So, at this point I think Musk has to be assumed to be altruistic.  He knows business and efficiency better than every single person in Congress, and it is not close.  Everyone knows the USA has a huge spending problem and a deficit problem.  Now they are finding out that they have a corruption problem as well.

This is something that you have seen Musk pointing out over the last few years, along with some other issues that he is concerned about.

Amazingly, the one issue that he is far more aware of than most is the issue in South Africa.  But it is awkward for him to be too keyed in on this because his detractors will say it is self-serving.  But it certainly needs pointing out.

So, at this point, I think you have to assume he is honestly trying to help.  He has too much else he could be doing.

It is just politics that some do not like Musk.  It is just the same as Trump.  The Left used to like these guys.  But now they do not like them and will never give them credit for any good they even try to do.

Any person should want efficiency and accountability in their government's spending -- regardless of politics.

Because they obviously had not been doing it, and thus, not doing a huge part of their jobs.  So, they were complicit in the 'waste, fraud and abuse' -- tacitly, or otherwise.

We are starting to get TOPIC Drift...the thread is not about ELon Musk motivation to cut cost ..but how effective he will be ...and do you believe with DOGE he will cut 1 Trillion federal spending by the dead line of July 4, 2026..

How much do you estimate the total amount will be ?

As I posted in the first post the DOGE reduction to date is over 75 Billion..........

Well.... they haven't been doing a very good job... thus, their firing. 

USAID is a CIA operation--they always need money.

It has been all too common for western governments (not just the US) to use NGOs as middlemen to meddle into the affairs of other governments. It was your Reagan who established the American version, only to take over many tasks from the CIA. They are nothing more than instruments to govern other societies, or push for regime changes if they want to. Nat'l Endowment for Democracy is a big one, also USAID. The American NGOs were activated to topple Yanukovich in Ukraine in 2014....this was the work of these NGOs. They also funded a Ukrainian NGO  and this NGO (just a CIA front) pressured Zelensky to drop all attempts to negotiate with Russia for peace in the Donbass. They threatened him with removal iand even assasination by extremist groups. Remember (or read up on how...) Zelensky won election based on his promises of negotiating for peace, but these NGOs were so very effective at manipulating all media levers in society to create a "fake consensus." Zelensky abandonded his peace mandate (for which he was elected) and Donbass was turned into a frontline. These NGOs are so cleverly wrapped in moralistic language and claims of "defending democracy." This is why you have seen odd categories of funding for large amounts of money (condoms for Afghans, theatre for LGBTQ, tea parties, etc). If it looks phoney, it probably is. Ukraine has been losing this war now, because of a war of attrition (a Russian way of fighting every war), and Ukraine has needlessly lost much territory, sovereingty and many lives, because of the work of these NGOs who are middlemen for the CIA (and other nations do it this way, too, btw, incl. nordic countries like Norway, Denmark, Finland...., because they have more funding capabilities than other EU countries.)

Trump (vis-a-vis Elon) is making much theatre about corruption and waste. However these funds will be put under the control of the Sec of State Rubio, we are told. This is not to end the funding...it is to rearrange it, so Trump has more control to filter these funds for "America First" ideologies. The evil doing will continue.

Trump is going to focus on the Middle East now, and these funds will be earmarked for plans there, which include relocating Palestinians by force into other countries, which I consider state sponsored genocide (the US is not the only nation participating in this). Other goals will be to achieve a regime change in Iran. Many humanitarian relief NGOs for Palestinians are a CIA fronts. Maybe 10% is used for relief workers and their salaries, 90% are used for evil purposes.

You say Zelensky is a comedian and an actor......So is Trump. He is a reality TV host and casino tycoon, and he is an expert at fooling you and regards you as a spectator at a WWE event.

He is doing all these executive orders to flood the narrative to appease his base, while at the same time overwhelming the opposition. Looks like his 4 year tenure will be like this from start to finish. Headline grabbing behaviors one after the other.

All this exposing fraud is just rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
