Dickie V
Bill was one of those basketball players that had most of his best years in College, he won a Championship in Milk. I believe like Kareem did also, difference for Bill was his ankles were shot after a couple years in NBA, did all the basketball he played getting to the promise land cause his early end to basketball, who knows as medicine was not what it is now
I was in High School when he was at UCLA and he was the Larry Bird of that era, though it was the 60s and he was a pot head already, some story about a Grateful Dead concert came out, but he was who he was. He made a couple comebacks and won a title with Celtics and somehow was able to back up Parish for 10 mins a game and had a big hand in them winning the title that year.
I never have cared for his color commentary during games I was glad he was able to get his place in basketball as his playing days were way to short, we missed a bunch of great plays he would of made.For these reason I would vote for Bill and I have talked to him a few times when I had season tickets to Warriors, really is a nice guy.
Vitale has always been a band wagon type guy, when Dean Smith was coaching he was the same as with K and he even talked good about Bobby Knight, that is a tuff one to do, but his basketball knowledge was "AWESOME BABY".

@TrojanTodd
What critical things? You have eyes I’m sure you didn’t miss them. Been noticing fans want these broadcasters to call games like robots now

enjoy them both..enjoy the stories. Heard about how Bill used to stutter. I like hearing when he refers to coach wooden, even he said he truly didnt appreciate him when he was a player. Bill wanted to grow a beard...facial hair was a no-no with wooden. Bill said, as an individual I have a right to grow facial hair. coach told his reigning player of the year, yes you do have that right, but we will miss you on the team. Most people dont know dickie v used to be a college head coach...and a darn good one. university of detroit...gave my childhood team of marquette and al mcguire(great announcer as well) fits. I heard story about when he is announcing and travelling, when he gets into a taxi cab, he has 6 different newspapers and magazines. The guy is well prepared. I miss the personalities of Howard cosell, harry caray, vin sculley, jack buck. I love Bob Uecker as a Brewers fan, when the game is 10-1, he is the best with his story telling....guy who has been a guest on the Tonight Show w Johnny Carson the most out of all the people who have been on the show. IF I were a network TV guy, I would have Snoop Dogg as a color analyst. elite 8 forward will be in same building, who will we have? Bill Rafferty(way past his day, must have pictures of some TV exec doing Capt. Kangaroo), Grant Hill(who doesnt deserve to be in Hall of Fame) and Jim nance.

I will add that Bill on Pac-12 Network is a "little" (very loose term) more subdued than on ESPN broadcasts........still lean Bill over Dick.......

Walton is very bright and hope i have his energy level when i’m his age. He’s a great story teller and there’s a lot of truth in the statements he makes.
