CBB - Thursday 11/18
I do work for a living.
Illinois returns all 5 starters this year and is a disciplined team that works hard in defense. This is their best team in years. Texas lost three guys to the NBA and start two freshman and two sophomores. Discipline and experience against out of control and immature. Maybe in March I'd lean towards Texas but right now, this is a no-brainer for me. Also, there's a big difference to me between 1.5 units and 2 units.
GH,
You're an amazing fellow to come here and post such a detailed writeup. That not only takes a lot of thought, but time to post all that info. And it is good to see you off to a good strt this year because you certainly deserve it.
You are making the right move to focus on CBB now, because at the beginning of the season when you have done your homework as you have, you have a big edge. There is no other sport that has 345 teams playing everydaytill March. No linemaker can be on top of what has happened since last season, so they have to let the teams performances adjust their PR's. So you best take advantage of it when you can like you are doing now.
Your reasoning again looks very solid with Tenn-Martin today. I have watched Trent Johnson since he coached at Nevda, Stanford and LSU. He has never been a very good road coach and should really get hammered with this team early on. With the experience of TM has, it should keep them in the game today.
Great read on Loy-Marymount and Columbia yesterday, and thanks again for taking all the time to share your insight. There isn't enought time to do all the things we would like to spend time on, so just be sure you have all your priorities straight or they won't end up being your priorities!

Great post for me to read SG and thanks. I agree with the angle about this is the best time to beat the books at CBB because they can't possibly keep up with every team.
More importantly I agree with priorities. This has become my number one hobby at times but could never interfere with my #1 priority in life, which is my kids. The wife on the other hand, occasionally, she may play second fiddle to Tennessee Martin or Loyola Marymount.
Thanks for the great post. I can't provide a detailed writeup that often but have had some extra time the past few days and I do enjoy the research and writing when time permits.

Also, all the research and writing in the world doesn't insure results and I could easily be wrong and Sn8w_man above could easily win and I emphasize and highlight that opposing views are always welcomed in my threads.
With that said, I am leaving in 20 minutes to take care of my priorities and won't be online until after many of these games have tipped off.

I should've noted Game...
Thanks and your opinion is always welcome here, even if it's an opposing view and especially if it is supported with reasoning.

You could be right about Belein but they were one of the slowest paces teams in the country last year and jusging from their first game, they were 3 possessions lower than last year. I don't think they are agood basketball team right now offensively.
Bowling Green is methodical and slow too. They managed just 54 points in 65 possession in their first game against that Division 1 juggernaut, Howard.
Michigan meanwhile clamped down on USC Upstater and held them to 35 points in their opener.
12 of Michigan's L16 games went under this number and BG may be the most offensively inefficient team outside of USC Upstate, that Michigan has faced,
Thanks for the reply! Appreciate the insight. Good luck tonight

Couldn't agree more.......especially the wife part ![]()
