This will be my first wager on the Hofstra ( yay or nay) . I have been a season ticket holder for almost 20 years. This year’s edition is rounding into form . Their depth the deepest I can recall . The key to this afternoon’s game is the return of Tarik Coburn , their number #2 scorer . In Coburn’s absence last week has been the blossoming of their Road Island transfer , Omar Silverio. In the year plus that he has been with the Pride , I was not a fan. However his play against UNCW was outstanding. Normally I have always stated that Hofstra was unplayable. The increase of the line from 2 1/2 to 4 (115) seems to indicate the Coburn will be playing . Hofstra due to a 3 year injury absence has been able to land a major recruit in Kvonn Cramer . Cramer caught the eye of the majors in sophomore year , averaging 18 per. Then he blew out his knee requiring two surgeries. Hofstra redshirted him last year to give him more time to round into form . Has a great nose for ball around the rim and has started to find the bottom of the basket . He has averaged 15 per over the last 4 games . The maturing of the their point guard , Celeb Burgess , remains a little suspect . It has been tough to replace The Pride’s 5 year point guard , Desure Buie . Buie exploded last year and put his team on his back , and lead the Pride to the CAA championship . Burgess looks to be improving and hopefully consistency will follow .
These new major additions to go along with the big Hofstra ‘s big 3 : high scorer Jalen Ray , ever improving Issac Kante , with Coburn , allows me to finally make a wager on the Pride .
Good luck
