Alot of people are starting to buy Gonzaga but one of the ACC teams - Duke or Virginia is likely to win it all.
This Gonzaga team is very very good, but something seems missing. The team that made the final 2 years ago was actually better and was Few's best tea, though some saying this one is (because of stats + analytics). The 2017 team was more loaded + talented and they had more scorers - they could go to more guys for scoring. This Gonzaga team has only 3 reliable guys who will be consistent in scoring and getting them points. Rui, Clarke and Norvell who is a microwave scorer. Clarke is one of their better bigs they have but that Zags team had 5 consistent scorers who they could go to for pts. including the point guard.
Main reasons why they wont win:
- Point guard Perkins is not enough an offensive threat or a dynamic guard like guard in 2017 team Williams Goss that could drive and attack defenses or create own shot off the dribble. In March point guards can go off and win you games. Perkins he's a pass first guard but he needs to step up and they need more from him on offense when they start to play better competition in the later rounds. I'm not sure he's reliable enough because it's just not his game.
- Tillie injury after coming back from injury is a blow and is going to hurt them. Last half of the season was needed to get his rhythm back and to establish chemistry with the group but now it's going to be hard with less time and not many games before the tourney starts. He is one of their best players and a starter so they going to have to maybe adjust his role and it's a shame because if he was healthy it would make a big difference and would help them.
- The frontcourt is the best in the nation, on both ends but kind of worried about guards Norvell, Perkins, Crandall and Kispert being able to contain quick guards who could drive and penetrate. They won't be going against guards from the WCC, instead more athletic and talented guards.
- There's quite a few teams that could upset Gonzaga. Brackets are not out yet so don't know who's on their side but if they are a 1 seed there's alot of tricky 4 or 5 seeds they could potentially run into like a LSU or Houston or a K State or Iowa State. Tough match ups for them. Also teams like Florida State with length and athleticism, and Kentucky, Michigan State with their frontcourt match up well against them. They also seem to struggle against the ACC last 4 tournaments all ended vs ACC teams.

Duke? Lol duke isn’t winning it all dude they can’t shoot
Yes, I know that and the public knows that too but it don't think it will matter because Zion is also a beast on defense and if they go cold, they got guys that can play good defense and get stops and make the other team brick too. This Duke bench also underrated. Plus coach K. That's why bookies have them at 1 with a big drop off at 2. Anyways who you think gonna win then? I'm interested to know what you think since you lol at my Duke pick.

It’s all about matchups, there’s about 6-7 teams this year who could win it. Duke is one of those teams, I just don’t think they have enough depth or outside shooting. You say you like dukes bench? I disagree. I think the deepest team is Gonzaga, but the team to key an eye on imo is Kentucky.
Don’t let the last play affect the next play

I agree it's all bout match ups. Good interesting pick on Kentucky. Still too young for me but boy are they talented. I don't trust them in close games but yea with the talent they could potentially go far.

Gonzaga not really that deep this year. I follow them for many years. I really like this team I think their frontcourt is the best and I desperately wanted to pull the trigger and invest on them but the reasons in my post are the reasons that stopped me. Mainly Perkins and Tillie injury. If Tillie was 100% I probably would have bet them. Anyways thanks for your input good luck.

Thanks for the title now. Perkins isn't an offensive threat? LOL. Yeah he's pass first because he has 4 weapons on the floor with him and he runs the offense. Laughable, he can score when he needs to

Nah, not really dude. Can't score when he needs to not reliable enough. Only 3 reliable guys in the current rotation Rui Clarke Norvell are damn good and will get you buckets. Norvell is a killer. But 2017 team w/ dynamic guard Williams Goss was awesome and more deep than this. You guys are still pretty damn good better than last year team but, just don't think you will win it this year.

Not a Gonzaga hater btw dude, I think you guys program is awesome and one of the best in the nation. Just don't think Perkins is the guy. He's talented and skilled and makes nice passes but when I seen him against the top teams he can't control the tempo and game like Williams Goss did. That's why I think the 2017 team was your best team.

I picked the Vols before conference play started and will stick with it. Like their experience, balance and pretty decent depth to boot to make a long run. That crazy OT game at Vandy made me wonder ... but after dismantling Kentucky, I think they are back on the rails. But yeh, there are a lot of teams with legit chances to win it this year. Got Utah State as my darkhorse for a run the Final Four. Should be fun.

while i disagree with you on gonzaga i really respect you gave actual basketball reasons besides the lazy " 0h they have a weak conference" who cares about the conference. Personally i like zags to win it all. Thought all year they were best team but you still make good points
