Been getting taken to the woodshed lately in college hoops. Anything that you guys look at/any tips you have to help become a better handicapper would be appreciated.

It will happen from time to time. Bad beats are awful and losing a bet in the last play sucks. You can always tease but I just try and find the best games out there, and do a little research, etc. Buying points is not a thing I do, and if I do it’s a half, to get rid of the hook. BOL brotha and remember this shit ain’t easy like we all want it to be! Lol

Compare stats using sites like Ken Pom and team Rankings. Use Twitter to get feeds on injuries. Maybe look at playing money line parlays in college hoops (2-4 teams) at the moment while doing the other research and tracking your ats plays and simply tracking them. As an example; yesterday a money line parlay of Kent St, Iowa, Ohio and Arkansas was (of course it depends on the site) roughly +140.

Highly recommend a subscription to KenPom. Great data, easy to analyze and find mismatches. The other tip, simply use the power of the internet/Twitter. Many beat writers out there for teams and conferences. Before placing a wager, be sure to read their analysis on a game so you get a better sense for how to adjust the KenPom data to come up with a selection.

Keep a log, track your play.
Most bettors look at all kind of team stats as part of their handicapping - how a team performs as a fav, a dog, over, under, home, on the road, etc. But very few can tell you their own stats - what is their record when they play favs? Dogs? Are they stronger on overs or unders? What is your record on favs? Are you in the upper 50% range but have a losing record when you bet double digit or higher favs? If so, cut down on big favs and improve your bottom line. How do you know your strengths and weaknesses if you don't track your play?
You may find nothing, but you might find stats you can incorporate into your 'capping and increase your overall win percentage.
Other than that - just remember the basic stuff:
Don't bet too many games (see my post in the general discussion forum thread "A Third Alternative to Fade or Follow" on this if you want more detail.)
Don't make the mistake many amateurs make and chase losses.
Don't vary unit size (it's difficult enough to maintain the necessary W % to be profitable, varying unit sizes makes it even more so. Some can do it successfully, most can't.
Like anything else - put the time into it, do the work, and you should get better at it.
Good luck.

Betting on those kids has been a disaster this year. But Saturday looks like a good spot, as regardless how bad we are, Duke is much worse.

You backed the Heels yesterday even though they have been bad ATS on the road and Clemson was 6-1 at home in addition to being 3-0 ATS last 3 games vs Heels? Also if you did your research you would have found UNC to be a poor FT shooting team, they made 9-19, and sloppy with the ball, they committed 17 turnovers. And Clemson was getting points. Ask yourself, why did you take the Heels? I did a write-up on the game explaining those exact things would in all likelihood lead to a SU win for Clemson. Not trying to beat you up, just examine your choices. Good luck in the future.
