Really? That is messed up. People under the age of 30 have a cold for a day or two or get nothing. Every death in Italy is from people over 80. The common flu has killed 37 times the number of people than this virus. Knowing many people in China they have been getting paid for months and are now bored out of their minds. 1,400,000,000 people 3,400 deaths. 95% over the age of 70. Really sad what the media does to people's thinking. Italy ever death is over the age of 80. Basically the same as the flu.

apparently in iran there is a different strain of the coronavirus virus and the casualties are younger .. at this point there is way to many unknowns about this virus to just disregard it as the common flu

This has to be the most ignorant comment I have read on the forums...and that's saying a lot given what happens in SB's threads.
Yes, Covid19 affects the elderly and people with comorbidities much more, and the mortality rate is much higher in this population. However, other age groups have also had deaths. See below:
80+ years old 14.8%
70-79 years old 8.0%
60-69 years old 3.6%
50-59 years old 1.3%
40-49 years old 0.4%
30-39 years old 0.2%
20-29 years old 0.2%
10-19 years old 0.2%
0-9 years old no fatalities
That means for the young healthy adults aged 20-39, 2 out of 1000 infections result in death. That's pretty worrisome...you probably won't want to be that 2 in 1000, I imagine?
Seasonal flu overall kills 0.2%, including a much higher rate in the same elderly population. Not exactly the same lethality, even though the absolute numbers are much larger than Covid19 for now.
I'm a huge sports fan too, and hate to see sports events cancelled. However, in this environment, everyone needs to do what's best for the greater good of society. Enough of this North American self entitlement!

Right......if you can't figure out the difference between 0.2% (flu) and 3.52% (Covid19) in terms of lethality, then really there is little point in discussing anything with a numbnut like you. Absolute numbers versus kill rate. Try doing simple arithmatic, or maybe your education system failed you in that basic skill?
Also, FYI, I'm not American, am originally from one of those "overseas" countries you are espousing, and have travelled to over 50 countries.
We may be on the same page with regards to perception of some parts of America, but clearly you are too angry to contemplate anything in a reasonable manner. I live in the "utopian" shelter of Canada, and fortunately have a much lower chance of getting shot randomly than you, apparently.
