    1 PLAY A DAY RECORD FOR 2009

    0-1-0 (-8.05U)

It was only right to start this off with a 2nd half meltdown by ST JOHNS... Anyways tough to think my boys would start 0-2 but i am not surprised i have said this throughout the threads almost 2 weeks ago. What a great game that was. Anyways lets get started for Big Monday...

Nothing looks enticing enough for NBA to make a play so i will layoff.

LOU                       -6.5 Now is the time we start taking LOU a little bit more serious. They had this same start last year but once they moved into conf. play this team turned it on to another level. I know they have the number one team in the land on deck but this is the BIG EAST and when you have big match-ups like these there is no overlooking you have to come ready to play. IMO it is time for LOU to pick up a credible win and make a statement tomorrow. LOU has been up and down these last several games and what i mean by that is letting teams back in the game that shouldnt come back. They need to come out focused to play 40mins of ball and just have the mentality that they want to embarass this ND team. Which i think is very possible as they do have one of the best Coaches in the country who i am sure has been stressing to close out games. ND's downfall is there depth and trying to run against teams are more well suited to push the tempo. As we saw against UNC, TEX (Even though they escaped here,) and ST JOHNS. I think ND will get a heavy dose of the press tomorrow as Potino loves to do and reall wear this IRISH team down in the last 10 min. LOU will be throwing fresh bodies in out a lot tomorrow to really push this tempo. I strongly think Harangody will get his but Jackson and MaCalarney are going to have to have career games to keep this one close. Something just tells me we see a top 10 team tomorrow out of LOU and they just flat out embarass ND in all aspects. ND should be a very popular play tomorrow with both teams recent performances. Also LOU is  26-7-2 in there last 35 against the BIG EAST...

TEX/OU               -4 Interesting match-up here. Battle of the bigs in OU against the guards of TEX. My inital lean right now is OU. As TEX in all of its losses were against good rebounding teams and well they have tough challange tomorrow in just person in paticular. This is going to be another great game to watch tomorrow. I think the thing that concerns me with OU though is there perimeter D as it has been suspect at times and James or Abrams could expose that in a hurry. If Atchley and Pittman can hold there own against Griffin i see no reason why TEX cant pull out a nice W but i hate backing teams that tend to live by the jumper at the college level and thats was TEX does IMO. Will def have sleep on this one has i can see it going either way...

Thats it for now if anything else pops out to me i will let you boys know...

Bird, like to see you on the Lville train bud.

You are exactly right.  This is the time of year Pitino whips his boy into shape and lays their future out on the table.  I love his style, and year after year at this time it shows the results.

And not to mention, Notre Dame is a team that has completely fallen from grace because of that hideous, vacant defense.  They just continue to think they can rally behind their offense and stay lazy on the defensive end.  They better shape up and learn that the Louisville's, Connecticut's, Syracuse's and Pitt's will run them out of the gym if they continue to play this lazy.

Do you notice Brey's teams are annually bad at defense?  I don't know when it will give, but I PROMISE they will never reach the Big East Championship and not even dream about a Sweet 16 appearance running with the style they have now.

Pitt just turned on the jets after a traditional hafltime ear-beating from Jamie.

Some of the Panthers got into a serious altercation late last night, but unfortunately those few had no impact in that second half.  DeJuan just took over, cleaning up every missed shot.  Thomas couldn't hang with him, he just couldn't.

Not to mention, other than Kennedy, the Johnnies could turn to NOBODY as Justin Burrell went into lockdown for some reason.

What is ridiculous is Sam Young was shut down today going just 5 of 15 from the field, and yet, with Brad Wanamaker and Jermaine Dixon stepping up it didn't matter.  These guys literally took his place and did it with exceptional force.  St. Johns was pounding the offensive glass first half, and that's what kept them in it.  Then they got lazy, and the lack of depth put the final dagger in them.

Jamie said he was impressed with his depth after the game, and I'll one-up him.  Pitt is the deepest team in the country right now.  The fact that they can still beat a team by 20+ with their best scorer shut down is just down right scary.

I have too disagree with you bird and I always read your posts but ND will cover this getting 6.5. I do agree with you on one note Harangody WILL get his. Mcalarney and jackson can handle the press very well. I also look for Mcalarney to have a big game tomorrow with everyones eyes focused on Harangody. Louisville hasnt beat a good team by 7 points all year and they wont beat this good ND by 7 either Im looking at a 4pt win one way or the other at best. Keep up the great work BIRD just food for thought bro.

I didnt get to watch the 2nd half but this pretty much sums it up. PITT is extremely deep but i played the angle of coming home off a 3 game trip grinding out some tough wins and then being number 1 for the first time in history along with the fact of the STEELERS playing i figured there was no focus for this team. Oh and catching a inflated line IMO but they proved us wrong oh well lets move on...

Focus is always on Harangody but this team goes as MaCalarney and Jackson goes they tend to hide in games like these or cant hit the big shots IMO has they struggle to take the load off Harangody. Sure they can handle the press but they dont have the bench to handle it for 40mins as fresh bodies will be coming at ND all night.

They havent beat a good team by 7 all year but they could have pounded some teams but for some reason keep letting them back in ball games. But like i said we saw last year and once Conf play rolled around they responded quiet well.

Dont you find this line odd?? Giving 6.5 to a supposedly final four team that i keep reading on this site but i have to disagree with all of that bull shit as like Drizz said they dont have the defensive mentality and to go to deep you have to have defense. Offense doesnt win at this level. When your offense doesnt show and then you have no defense things get bad and dont be surprised if you see this tomorrow night at Freedom Hall...

BOL to you either way. But this is exactly like i stated on that OU/KSU line. Lower ranked team giving points to the higher ranked team and in this situation every night of the week i will take the lower ranked. LOU or no play IMO. But all in all whether LOU covers or not they will beat the piss out of ND come closer to March...

Bird - I guess my problem with the Louisville selection is Samuels hasn't performed well this season against any legit big man.  And outside of  him I just don't think they have any size to stop Gody.  Nobody to stop Gody will mean Louisville HAS TO help...and that will give Mc & Jackson those open looks they so desperately need.

On the flip side, I'm not quite sure I can back a team on the road that hasn't played a lick of defense all season.

Freshman much expected but he will get better no doubt as the season moves deeper...

Honestly when was the last time Harongody was really put into check. I hate this kid i really do but he is so fucking fundamental and so damn good. Very intelligent kid and knows what to do around the rim.

Mc and Jack better hit them early and often cause they will run like they have not ran since UNC tomorrow...

The only way i see ND keeping this close is if Hillesland and Zellar step up in a big way and i just dont see that happening...

Riding the Cards all the way to the bank with ya

However, I'm gonna take the other side on the Tex game.  IMO it will be a close game to the wire, plus I see Abrams having a big game behind the arch.

Have you looked into the Davidson / App. St. game???

everybody's bagging on ND's D, how about Lou shooting 41% in conference? and giving up 40 rebounds in conference??? I know its only 2 games of info but . I caution anyone who decides to play this BIG, especially with a light card.
