Ha..what? Why are you married to her? My wife encourages me...  I've made many 5 and 10k bets but that was always been money in my account, money I made gambling. I've been playing with house money all my life. Listen...  90% of people who drink are not alcoholics, 90% or recreational drug users are not addicts and 90% of the people who gamble, gamble responsibly.  Lets not talk about the people who can't control themselves...

I'll never have a problem because big losses really bother me, and big wins do very little for me.. I got 17k in my account and 98% of the time I bet $55...

It feels great to go 0-4 and only lose $200  ...I got myself squarely in the ENERTAINMENT ZONE

Best to know golf. . . and 1-3 million no  limit holdem hands (real money) poker...

When you do have sports info...ppl...in those genres will steer you clear of what not to do sports betting.   Lot of rules you can follow just by reading other ppls styles...and why they stay away from certain betting lines....why they never overlap parlays/ teasers...etc...etc...

Lot of good capers with different styles on covers...

You learn a lot and most of them are good about getting back to you about thought process etc/angle on games etc/if an injury really matters....etc...etc

Gambling is all about juicing those endorphins.

Find another way to get those endorphins going if gambling becomes too stressful.

Running, strip clubs, or whatever you can do in place of gambling should suffice.

Most people's lives are mundane, they need something to spruce themselves.

Sounds like you are on tilt. I get the sense you don't have a sound betting strategy from the examples you've outlined. Never make a monster bet that will knock you out if you lose it. Disciplined betters will have a unit strategy to account for this (e.g. some bet same unit for any game, or others a mix/max unit bet depending how they assess it). Even for a bet what looks like the best line ever, you never exceed your max unit play. This accounts for the luck/risk. More important, if you don't have the ability to hit at least 55% of your picks, then you are a bookies dream.

Very true.  Make an appropriate unit to your bankroll and stick to it. The "simple" formula is: [bankroll divided by 100]. Don't be like these other jacka$$es on here who post a 100 or 500 UNIT play to get attention. Basically, they don't know or understand what a "unit" is even though they think they do, they don't.  100 or 500 unit play?!  Why not just say that you're betting $100 or $500 on that betting event? Ask those "100 -500 unit PER BET on a play" bettors the simple question of "How many eggs are in a dozen?" and they will likely reply with "There are 12 dozen eggs in a dozen." All they want to be able to say is, "Yeah, I'm hitting less than 50% but I'm still up 500 units so my win percentage doesn't mean as much..."
